Division I Girls Hoop: It’s Bedford’s title again, 50-44

Champions again.
The Bedford High School girls basketball team got one half of the what the Bulldogs hope are a dual Division I title as it topped Londonderry, 50-44, in the championship game Saturday at the University of New Hampshire’s Lundholm Gym.
It’s the No. 1 Bulldogs’ (22-0) second straight title and third in the last five seasons, but it was no walk in the park. They led 12-10 after one quarter, but then created some distance for a 25-18 halftime lead. No. 2 Londonderry (22-2) stayed close on Brooke Eacrett’s buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter that made it 37-29, and the Lancers cut the gap to four, 43-39, with 2:57 left. But Bedford pulled away.
Kate Allard had 12 points to lead Bedford while Annie Zink had 11. Londonderry’s Sammie Sullivan led all scorers with 20 points.
Next up with be the Bedford boys, also the top seed in Division I, when they take on Keene in their championship game today at 4 p.m. at UNH.
