Tourney Roundup: MHBDS wins in OT; Admirals season ends

They’re back where they belong.

The Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield boys hockey team has reached the Division II semifinals in dramatic fashion something that alone as Merrimack the team missed last year for the first time in ages.

Meanwhile, a good season ended on a tough note for the Alvirne-Milford Admirals.

Here’s what happened:

No. 5 MBHDS 3, No. 4 GOFFSTOWN 2 (OT)

Will Farrell scored, asssted by Jackson Woods, just 55 seconds into sudden death overtime to keep the WarHawks season alive.

Goffstown led 1-0 after one but Woods scored, assisted by Alex Gertz in the second to tie it. The teams traded third period goals.

The WarHawks (12-5-2) will take on No. 1 Spaulding on Wednesday at Concord’s Everett Arena at 5 p.m.

NO. 3 ST. THOMAS 8, NO. 6 ALVIRNE-MILFORD 2

It was a tough ending for the locals at Dover Ice Arena, as they fell behind 3-0 in the first period and never recovered. A-M managed goals by Braydon Atwood (Brandon Ganas assist) and Bryce Larco (Luc Pelletier assist), both in the second period.

Mason Komarek had 39 saves in goal for the Admirals,whose season wraps up at 12-7. St. Thomas will take on No. 2 Oyster River in the semis on Wednesday at Everett Arena in Concord.
