NASHUA — The Bishop Guertin High School boys basketball team won its last three to get the home Division I prelim round game it wanted.

But it didn’t count on No. 9 Windham’s Jack Koutrobis ruining it.

Koutrobis had a whopping 36 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Jaguars rolled to a 64-49 win at a jam packed Colligadome.

The No. 8 Cardinals, who trailed 31-29 at the half, saw their season end at 10-9.

“It was his night,” BG coach Will Horne said of the Jaguars’ top scorer.

“That’s a senior not wanting to go home. Thirty-six points and he doesn’t want to go home. He’s hungry and he deserves tonight,” said Windham head coach Carson Desrosiers.

Koutrobis scored the game’s first basket on a drive coming 34 seconds in and he never took the foot off the gas pedal. He ended the first quarter with seven points, added nine more in the second, including back-to-back threes 32 seconds apart.

The second half – if that was even possible – he was better. He converted on a three-point play and followed it up with back-to-back three-pointers and was unstoppable. For kicks, he put the game away midway through the fourth with a drive and a trey coming 22 seconds apart.

“As the season has gone on, he’s gotten better and better. It started off not where he wanted it to be and he just kept working, working and working,” said Desrosiers. “He was always in the gym, before, during and after practice. He put a lot of work into his shooting. Tonight, he put everything together. It was an unbelievable, unbelievable performance.

“He’s a baller. He shows up in the biggest games. Whenever we have a big game, we know that we’re going to get the best out of Jack.”

Windham was 12 of 23 from 3-point land as a team.

Meanwhile, Guertin got 15 points from Connor McGowan while Eli Youssef added 13.

The season was a step forward for BG in Horne’s second year at the helm, as they missed the tourney entirely last year. Next year they should be a contender as they lose just one senior, reliable point guard Matt Chau.

Windham will now travel to play No. 1 seed Bedford on Saturday night (6 p.m.). Windham lost 70-61 in the regular season meeting.
