It was a tough night on the road for two other local Division I high school girls basketball teams.
The No. 14 Nashua North Titans gave No. No. 3 Windham a run for its money, ultimately falling. Meanwhile, the No. 10 Alvirne Broncos saw their season come to an end at No. 7 Salem.
Here’s what happened:
NO. 3 WINDHAM 53, NO. 14 NASHUA NORTH 43
The Titans were down 13-4 early and that was basically the difference in the game as North (8-11) missed six free throws during that span.
“It was a dead even game from there,” North coach Curt Dutilley said. “Great effort.”
Angie King led North with 15 while Aidan Walker and Madelyn Tino had 10 each.
NO. 7 SALEM 43, NO. 10 ALVIRNE 29
The Broncos got off to a tough 14-3 start and could never recover. Julia Adams led Alvirne with 11.
“I’m very proud of the girls,” Broncos coach Frank Girginis said. “They never quit fought to the end. More than anything that’s a lesson in life I want them to take away from tonight.
“No matter what, never quit, and they didn’t.”
Girginis also expressed gratitude to seniors Ella Hartson and Avery Willard for what they gave the program.
“They’ll be missed,” he said.
Alvirne winds up its season at 10-9.
