Wait, there’s more.
As eventful as last Saturday was with the NHIAA Division Meets, this Saturday brings the chance for over 50 local high school wrestlers to compete for overall true state championships.
It’s the Meet of Champions, an all day affair set to be held at Pinkerton Academy. And not only will there be the boys MOCs, but the NHIAA Girls State Championships as well.
It will be a chance for some local standouts such as Hollis Brookline’s Caden Bruseo, Campbell’s Logan Allaire, Souhegan’s Jack Kaler, Alvirne’s Shawn Boudreau, and Bishop Guertin’s Bishop Kearns to try to earn titles. All of them are seeded either third or higher in their respective weight classes. Bruseo and Allaire were named the Division II and III Outstanding Wrestlers last weekend with titles.
Souhegan and Milford will send the most wrestlers (10) to the meet. Hollis Brookline will have eight. Bishop Guertin will be sending six.
And, of course, all the other area schools, including Nashua North and South, will send their top wrestlers. South’s Benny Byrne is seeded second at 120.
In the girls competition, keep an eye on the 165-pound competition where Bishop Guertin’s Ayla Saeturn and Alvirne’s Jillian Boncore are seeded one-two. Souhegan’s Isabelle Brandt (145) and Merrimack’s Avary Berardinelli (120) are second seeds while Souhegan’s Ava Burbee is a third seed at 138.
