HS Hockey Roundup: Kings stun Salem in OT; Admirals’ streak ends

It was a light Wednesday in terms of high school game quantity, but oh, there was quality.
That starts with the Nashua South-Pelham Kings, who got a huge win in OT at the Salem Icenter, keeping their Division I tournament hopes alive.
Alas, Alvirne-Milford’s seven-game win streak came to an end, while unfortunately Nashua North-Souhegan’s continues. And Merrimack-HB-Derryfield has reached double digits in wins.
Here’s how the puck luck went:
NASHUA SOUTH-PELHAM 5, SALEM 4
Kings captain Broden Landsteiner scored his second goal halfway through sudden death overtime as the locals improved to 4-9-1, just currently shy of a tournament spot with four games left to play.
His first on the power play tied the game with just 16 seconds remaining to send the game to the extra session. Brendon Doughty had a goal and two assists while Ian DiGirolamo and Gavin Asimakopulos also scored for the Kings, who got 35 saves in goal by Noah Soule.
Brendon Skelley had two assists and Andrew Byrne one for South-Pelham, which is at Pinkerton on Saturday.
WINNACUNNET 7, NASHUA NORTH-SOUHEGAN 4
The Saber-Titans (0-13) were a period away from getting their first win, up 4-3 heading into the third. But they managed just three shots on goal in the final 15 minutes, while the Warriors scored four times.
Christian Miller had two goals to lead the N-S offense, while Noah Lapham and Brody Sice had the other goals.
Jake Dodge had two assists while Andrew Cullinane and Chris Holland had one each. Tony Venzia had 29 saves in net for the Saber-Titans, who are at Keene today.
SPAULDING 7, ALVIRNE-MILFORD 3
Bryce Larco, Brandon Ganas and Logan Howard all scored for the visiting Admirals, while asists went to Braydon Atwood and Ganas. Mason Komarek had 19 saves for the Admirals, who trailed 5-2 after two.
A-M hosts Dover at Skate 3 on Saturday. Spaulding is now 14-2.
MERRIMACK-HB-DERRYFIELD 6, TIMBERLANE 1
The WarHawks improved to 10-4-2 as Will Farrell and Alex May had two goals each. Alex Gertz and Felix Rattunde each had a goal.
Rattunde , Gertz, Farrell and May each had an assist. Other assists went to Jackson Woods (two), Caleb May, Jack Hatfield, and Colin Hamlin also had assists.
James Brew got the win in goal for MHBDS, which is at Goffstown on Saturday night at Sullivan Arena.
