It was an unusually busy Monday night in the high school world, especially for a holiday night.
But not only on the court or ice, but at the NHIAA as they released the Division III boys and girls basketball pairings. While the Campbell girls didn’t make it, the Cougar boys did and will host a first-round game tonight.
Meawhile, victories for the Nashua South and Hollis Brookline boys hoop teams, the HB girls team, and, not to be outdone, another win for the BG boys hockey team.
Here’s the somewhat manic Monday results:
BOYS BASKETBLL
NASHUA SOUTH 57, WINNACUNNET 49
Josh Caruso’s incredible senior season continues as he pumped in 34 points for the Panthers in their final road game of the regular season. Daniel Karavanic added 11. South, now 12-4, hosts Exeter on Friday. The Warriors fell to 7-9 with their sixth straight loss.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 65, CONVAL 44
Yarie Ramas led the way for the Cavs in Peterborough with 14 points while James Arthur added 10 as HB’s great season continues at 12-3.
HB had grabbed a 34-24 halftime lead but put the game away in the third, outscoring its hosts 22-6 while sparked defensively by Dylan Kelley.
HB is at Lebanon tonight.
CAMPBELL PRELIM TONIGHT
The Cougars had one of their best regular seaons of late at 15-2 to grab the No. 4 seed. They’ll host No. 13 Hopkinton (7-9) tonight at 6 p.m.
It should be an interesting tourney. The Cougars with a win would host the winner of the No. 5 St. Thomas vs. No. 12 Prospect Mountain prelim. Campbell split with St. Thomas during the season. The Cougars are in the same bracket with No. 1 Belmont (17-1), and they gave Belmont that one loss last month.
The semis are next Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Bow High School with the title game set for Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m. at Keene State College.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 42, CONVAL 21
The host Cavs improved to 8-7 in cruising past the Cougars. Anika Carlson led the way with 14 points while Ana O’Donnell added nine.
HB is right back at it tonight at home vs. Lebanon.

BISHOP GUERTIN 5, BEDFORD 2
Break up the 11-3 Cardinals, as they won their seventh straight, led by two goals by Ryan Moglienicki, a goal and two assists by Jordan O’Hearn and a goal and assist by Noah Cordiero.
James Mantone added a goal while Dom Trepanier had two assists. Jack Menicci added an assist.
