HS Roundup: South boys, BG girls roll; Cougars end at 15-2

Believe it or not, one local high school boys basketball team ended its regular season on Friday night: The Campbell boys. The Cougars will now begin tourney play next week after winning 15 of 17 games.

But also on Friday, two of the area’s top teams wpn in dominant fashion. The combined differential between the Nashua South boys and Bishop Guertin girls wins was 86 points. Yikes.

Here’s your Friday rundown:

BOYS BASKETBALL

NASHUA SOUTH 72, DOVER 39

Josh Caruso and Daniel Karavanic each scored 14 points in the Panthers (11-4) win. Josh Tripp and Linc Vanderhorst tallied 13 and 11 points respectively. South visits Winnacunnet on Monday.

SALEM 66, NASHUA NORTH 56

The Titans tough season continues as they fall to the Blue Devils on the road, dropping them to 4-11. They host Londonderry on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 53, KENNETT 40

Wes Hickman’s 20 point performance helps the Sabers (7-8) win their second straight game. Souhegan hosts Sanborn on Tuesday.

CAMPBELL 60, MONADNOCK 22

The Cougars (15-2) end the regular season in dominant fashion. Logan Rice (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Cayden DeLeon (13 points, 11 assists) each had a double-double. Luke Delia (12 points, five steals) and Jack Breton (11 points, nine rebounds) also had big contributions for the locals.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 90, CONCORD 37

The Cardinals (12-4) grab a decisive win for their fourth straight victory and ninth in their last 10. Maggie Gallagher (15 points), Maddi Long (14 points), Holly Dufoe (11 points) and Kayden Rioux (nine points) led the offensive unit.

BG visits Keene on Tuesday.

SALEM 74, NASHUA NORTH 34

The Titans (7-8) lose their fourth game in a row with a loss to the Blue Devils. Lily Small scored 15 points while Madelyn Tino and Angie King had nine points apiece. North visits Londonderry on Tuesday.

DOVER 65, NASHUA SOUTH 43

The Panthers (6-10) lose their fifth straight contest with a road loss in Dover. Playing well for South were Lexi McGuire (17 points), Nicole DeJesus (11 points) and Karina O’Donnell (six points).

South hosts Winnacunnet on Monday.

MILFORD 56, CONVAL 17

The Spartans bolted out to a 30-2 first quarter lead as they improve to 11-3. Avery Fuller led the offense with 13 points. Claire Cote (10 points), Shea Hansen (nine points), Lulu Maguire (six points), Lexi Bausha (five points) and Ellie Nassy (five points) played well for the locals.

Milford hosts Derryfield on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 49, KENNETT 13

The Sabers (6-9) held a 20-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Zofia Rosenfield led the way with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Caroline Drum collected nine points and 11 rebounds with Tess Jancar chipping in with seven points. Souhegan visits Sanborn on Tuesday.

LACONIA 52, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 45

The Cavs drop to an even 7-7 record after a loss to Laconia. Samantha Disco (four three-pointers) tallied 16 points, Ana O’Donnell chipped in 14 and Anika Carlson had 11. HB hosts ConVal on Monday.
