HS Roundup: BG girls control South; Alvirne, HB boys win again

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the hottest local high school hoop team of them all?

Is it the Bishop Guertin girls, who have won seven straight in-state games and 7 of eight overall? Or the Hollis Brookline or Alvirne boys who have won five straight (nine of 10) and seven straight games, respectively?

Go check them al out in the final two-and-a-half weeks of the season and be the judge. Here’s how they and others did Tuesday night:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 66, NASHUA SOUTH 44

The Cardinals (11-4) dominate the Panthers (6-8) to win their third straight game. Maggie Gallagher and Holly Dufoe tallied 11 points apiece with Thalia Drapeau adding nine for BG.

South’s Nicole De Jesus had a game high 18 points, Karina O’Donnell scored eight; while Addie Borden and Brooke Berger each had seven. It was a four-point game late in the first half before the Cards went on a 13-6 run to lead 27-16 at the half. They led 51-28 after three.

BG hosts Concord on Friday and South visits Concord Christian on Wednesday.

CONCORD CHRISTIAN 71, NASHUA NORTH 42

The Titans (7-7) drop their third straight contest. Aidan Walker scored 15 points, Madelyn Tin had 11 and Lily Small added eight. North hosts Salem on Friday.

PLYMOUTH 38, SOUHEGAN 37

The Sabers (4-9) came back from a 33-26 deficit to take a 37-36 lead with 22 seconds left. Plymouth would knock down the game winner with 12 seconds remaining. Zofia Rosenfield scored 15 points. Souhegan hosts Kennett on Friday.

ALVIRNE 60, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 45

Courtney Anderson poured in 20 points in the Broncos (8-6) win. Others playing well were Julia Adams (12 points), Ella Hartson (nine points) and Haylie Christian (eight points). Alvirne visits Merrimack on Thursday.

MILFORD 47, COE-BROWN 42

Lexi Bausha erupted for a season high 20 points in the Spartans (10-3) win over Coe-Brown. Ellianna Nassy scored 10 points, Avery Fuller and Lulu Maguire had six apiece and Claire Cote added five. Milford hosts ConVal on Friday.

CAMPBELL 41, RAYMOND 23

McKenzie Ripley had a team high 11 points in the Cougars (4-12) win. Katie Fluet and Zoe Bourque each had eight points. Campbell hosts Monadnock on Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

ALVIRNE 62, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 41

The Broncos improved to 10-4 as they pulled away late from the Little Green. Sammy DeWitt led the way with 24 points while Garrett Hall added 12. Alvirne hosts Merrimack on Friday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 57, KINGSWOOD 43

The Cavs (11-4) outscored the Knights 21-5 in the third quarter to take control of the game. James Arthur had a game high 17 points, Alton Williams scored 10 and Dylan Kelley had nine. HB visits Laconia on Thursday.

SOUHEGAN 59, PLYMOUTH 48

Wes Hickman led the way with 20 points to break the Sabers (6-8) six game losing streak. The locals led wire to wire. Souhegan visits Kennett on Friday.

CAMPBELL 76, RAYMOND 60

The Cougars improved to 14-2 as all five starters hit double figures: Logan Rice and Jack Breton (17 each), Luke Delia (16), Matthew Haley (11) and Cayden Deleon (10). They wrap up the regular season Friday at Monadnock.
