SPARTAN SPEED! Milford wins Division II boys track title

Spartan Speed.

They were neck-in-neck with a few events to go, but the Milford High School boys indoor track team pulled away from a 35-all tie with ConVal to win the Division II state title on Saturday night at Plymouth State’s George E. Davis Track.

Milford totaled 51 points, ahead of ConVal’s 35 and John Stark’s 30. Oyster River (28) was fourth.

Locally, Souhegan was 10th (19) and Hollis Brookline (17) 12th in a 25-team field.

Oyster River, as expected, ran away with the girls meet with 80 points but Hollis Brookline finished second with 30. Milford was 19th, Campbell was 22nd and Souhegan 25th.

But the night belonged to the Spartans, led by two relay wins, the 4×400 and 4×800.

Avery Wilson, Logan Korthals, Kenyon Sora and Will Whitley took the 4×4 in 3:34.27; Chase Paiva, Grant Skorupan, Korthals and Whitley teamed up for the 4×8 win in 8:27.98.

The Spartans were also third in the 4×200 with Wilson, Korthals, Josh Pettingell and Sora in at 1:35.40.

Wilson won the 55 dash (6.49 seconds) and fifth in the 300 (36.64). Korthals was third in the 1000 (2:40.52); Skorupan was sixth in the 1500.

The Cavs’ Jacob Hoesch was second in the 600 n 1:25.91.

HB’s Andrew Desmarais, Matthew Bergin, Brady McCammack and Sam Bruneau were fourth in the 4×200 (1:36.06). The foursome of Ronan Finnegan, Pedro Souza, William Scott and Thomas Howie were sixth in the 4×800

Souhegan’s Dallen Noorda, Thomas Arnoldy, Jacob Spencer and Mikey Corrigan were third in the 4×800; John Katsel, Brody Smith, Ryan Stone and Ben Gaudet were fifth in the 4×200; Smith was sixth in the high jump.

GIRLS MEET

HB’s Grace Dow is a state champion as she won the 55 hurdles in 8.61 seconds; she was also fourth in the 300 (43.54).

HB’s Annika Bergin was fifth in the 600. The Cavs’ Molly Reardon took third in the 1000 (3:11.97). Mae Butler was fourth in the 1500 (5:15.02).

The Cavs’ 4×400 foursome of Reardon, Bergin, Audrie Green a nd Katelyn Hawley was fourth.

Milford’s foursome of Grace Mucheru, Catriona Carter, Isabella Cornaro and Rylee Coates were fifth in the 4×400. Spartan Zoe Rick was fifth in the shot put.

Souhegan’s Ori Dart took sith in the 300. Campbell’s Calleigh Duncan was sixth in the 3000 and Bridgette Hidalgo was the same in the shot put.
