The theme going into the Division I high school boys basketball season was that anyone could beat anyone else, and that theory was proved correct on Friday night with Alvirne stunning Trinity of Manchester by two at the Steckovicz Gym.
“The zone (defense) worked well , the guys stepped u and played with confidence,” Alvirne coach Mitchell Roy said. “Sammy DeWitt did an excellent job making an impact and everyone filled their roles.”
It was a tough night otherwise for a lot of locals other than the Campbell boys. Due to the weather, the Milford-Pelham boys and games were moved to Monday. Here’s a look:

The Broncos were up 44-39, then down 48-46 with 3:25 to go before pulling away to lead 53-50 with 12 seconds left. Collin Charbeneau’s potential game winning 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short. DeWitt led Alvirne with 20, while Gabe Conrow added 12 and Garrett Hall 10.
