HS Roundup: South girls snap streak; Pioneers top North

Another Friday night of highs and lows in local high school basketball.
The biggest high: The Nashua South girls won on the road vs. Portsmouth, ending a tough slump. “Huge win,” South coach John Bourgeois said. “The girls played out of their minds.”
The toughest low: The Bishop Guertin boys had an obscure call at the end of their game lead to an OT loss. But head coach Will Horne always stays positive. “The kids battled,” he said. “Great game.”

BOYS BASKETBALL
TRINITY 59, NASHUA NORTH 48
The Titans (3-7), down just 24-22 at the half, put up a good fight against Trinity, but fell short and lose their fourth straight contest. Robinson Rodriguez scored 18 points while Alize Roig-Cortez and Josh Sullivan had 12 each. North visits Portsmouth on Tuesday.
EXETER 78, BISHOP GUERTIN 76 (OT)
Connor McGowan paced the Cardinals (5-5) offense with 35 points in their loss to the Blue Hawks. A lane violation with two seconds left in regulation gave Exeter and extra free throw to send the game into extra time. Eli Youseff added 17 points. BG visits Salem on Tuesday.
ALVIRNE 70, CONCORD 36
Sammy Dewitt had a phenomenal performance on the road tallying 36 points in the Broncos (6-4) third straight win. Garrett Hall, Gabe Conrow and Evan Bettencourt had eight points apiece. Alvirne hosts Trinity in January 31.
BEDFORD 94, MERRIMACK 64
The Tomahawks (5-4) struggled on the road against the Bulldogs on Friday. Ryan Elliott had 20 points and Nate Johnson collected 16. Bedford shot 15 more free throws than the locals in the first half. Merrimack hosts Nashua South on Tuesday.
MANCHESTER WEST 47, SOUHEGAN 37
In a tight defensive game the Sabers (5-4) were unable to come out on the winning end on the road. Wes Hickman had a team high 14 points. Souhegan visits Hollis Brookline on Tuesday.
CAMPBELL 77, PROSPECT MOUNTAIN 52
Logan Rice (22 points) and Jack Breton (20 points, 10 rebounds) were unstoppable Friday night stacking the box scored for the Cougars (10-2). Cayden DeLeon had a double-double of his own tallying 12 points and 11 assists, while Luke Delia collected 12 points and five steals.
Campbell visits Raymond on January 31.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 55, PORTSMOUTH 50
Addie Borden scored 24 points to lead the Panthers (5-5) in ending their three game losing streak. Nicole DeJesus and Brooke Berger had nine and six points respectively.
South hosts Merrimack on Tuesday.
NASHUA NORTH 58, TRINITY 48
Aidan Walker and Lily Small each scored 18 points in the Titans (5-4) third straight win. Angie King added 12 points and Madelyn Tino held the opponents top scorer to three points. North hosts Portsmouth on Tuesday.
ALVIRNE 66, CONCORD 29
Lexi Floyd (17 points) and Ella Hartson (15 points) pace the offense in the Broncos (6-4) win. Courtney Anderson added 10 points.
Alvirne hosts Concord Christian on Tuesday.
OYSTER RIVER 63, MILFORD 58
The Spartans (6-2) four game winning streak ends with a loss at home on Friday. Avery Fuller had a team high 14 points scoring eight in the second half. Shea Hansen added 13 points (four three-pointers), Ellianna Nassy chipped in 10, Lulu Maguire scored nine in her return from an ACL injury and Lexi Bausha had seven.
Milford visits Sanborn on Wednesday.
DERRYFIELD 67, SOUHEGAN 60
The Sabers (3-6) went toe-to-toe with an undefeated Derryfield squad, but fell just short of the upset. Caroline Drum had a career high night scoring a game high 26 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Zofia Rosenfield chipped in with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Lanai Hickman had a career high 14 points with seven rebounds.
Souhegan hosts Hollis Brookline on Tuesday.
PROSPECT MOUNTAIN 39, CAMPBELL 15
The Cougars offensive woes drop their record to 2-10. McKenzie Ripley scored six points. Campbell hosts Raymond on January 31.
