HS Roundup: Souhegan, Milford, HB wrestlers win; BG skaters top Keene

Wrestling and hockey ruled the night on Wednesday, as it normally does. Two of the hottest mat teams this season are Souhegan and Milford, and that continued last night.
Meanwhile, while Bishop Guertin boys hockey bounced back, two winning streaks, one hockey, and one hoop were snapped.

WRESTLING
SOUHEGAN 40, BISHOP GUERTIN 18
The Sabers pretty much dominated the match with wins by Kyle Sukcharoenphon at 106 (pin), Jack Kaler at 126 (tech fall 16-1), Ben Smiley at 138 (tech fall 23-8), Cole Brandt at 144 (pin), Sam Albert at 157 (pin), and Noah Daily at 165 (pin).
Guertin got wins by James Algeo at 132 (8-3 decision), Lucas Wilson at 113 (pin), Jack Foster at 150 (2-1 decision) and Bishop Kearns at heavyweight (pin)
MILFORD 61, MERRIMACK 18
The Spartans great winter continues as they won all but three matches.
Cameron Stickney won at 138 (technical fall 16-1), Tanner Herbert at 144 (pin), Phillip Wright at 150 (pin), Jace Woilhelmi at 157 (pin), Noah Kittredge at 165 (pin), Jack Clancy at 175 (sudden victory 8-5), Nathaneal Post at 190 (pin), Elijah Wales at 215 (pin), Brandon Leeman at 285 (pin), and Kane Davis at 120 (tech fall 19-4).
Merrimack’s wins were by Owen Sayball at 126 (injury), Connor Sayball at 132 (pin), and Charlene Haddad at 106 (pin).
NASHUA NORTH 57, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 24
The Titan winners were Gavin Page at 132 (pin), Julian Palladini at 144 (pin), Kayden Vallerand-Kennaeally at 150 (pin), Yuri Soraes at 157 (pin), Ruben De Jesus at 190 (10-7 decision) and David Cole at 285 (pin).
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 45, WINNACUNNET 30
HB winners by pin included Hunter Knight (126), Dylan Orr (132), and Marty Burns (165).
Other Cavalier winners were Victor Lomme (113) and Scout Crea (120). HB also got three forfeits. The Cavs host Pinkerton, Windham and Londonderry in a quad meet on Saturday.
ALVIRNE 47, KINGSWOOD 23
Bronco pins included Tim Malley(113), Ayden Douglass (138), Joseph Lydon (157), Quintin Tetreault (190), and Shawn Boudreau (215). Shayne Mackey won by tech fall (17-1) at 165.
BOYS HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 4, KEENE 1
The visiting Cardinals bounced back nicely from Saturday’s loss to Concord with three first period goals against the Blackbirds, two by Noah Cordiero.
Their other goals were by Jordan Delude, assisted by Gavin Santos, and Ryan Mogielnicki
Now 5-3, BG hosts Exeter at Skate 3 on Saturday afternoon.
WINNACUNNET 8, ALVIRNE-MILFORD 4
The Warriors snapped the Admirals’ four-game win streak at Phillips Exeter. Brandon Ganas had two goals while Braydon Atwood had a goal and an assist. Brandon Callahan had the Admirals other goal, while Bryce Larco had two assists. Landon Briand also had an assist.
Mason Komarek had 14 saves for the Admirals, who host Nashua North-Souhegan on Saturday at 5:40 p.m. at Skate 3.
GIRLS HOCKEY
BERLIN-GORHAM 6, BISHOP GUERTIN 4
The Cards (2-6) fell short despite goals by Grace Spengler, Riley Goldthwaite, Ari Pascik and Aine Kelly at Skate 3. Carly Green had an assist.
BG looks to get back on track at Kingswood-Prospect Mountain on Saturday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
ST. THOMAS 63, CAMPBELL 55
The visiting Cougars saw their six-game winning streak come to an end despite 22 points from Logan Rice and 16 by Jack Breton in Dover. The Saints, who lost to the Cougars by 12 in Litchfield a couple of weeks ago, improved to 7-2.
Now 9-2, Campbell will host Prospect Mountain on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
ST. THOMAS 55, CAMPBELL 29
The Cougars had a tough time with the Saints, despite 10 points by Kenzie Ripley and eight by Kayla Denwiddie.
Now 2-9, the Campbell will look to snap its four-game skid at Prospect Mountain on Friday.
