HS Roundup: North-South skiers split Battle of Bridge

Snow can’t make The Bridge tough to navigate, especially when it involves skiing, right?

The Nashua North-South Battle of the Bridge continued on Monday, even after six inches of snow overnight, as the boys and girls ski teams split the Giant Slalom event at Pat’s Peak, allowing South to hold on to a 3-1 lead as the rivalry encounters briefly resumed before a break until this Sunday.

Meanwhile, break up the Cougars.That has to be the feeling around Division III circles as the Campbell High School boys basketball team won its sixth straight game on Monday night.

Here’s a look at the holiday results:

BOYS & GIRLS SKIING

NORTH GIRLS, SOUTH BOYS WIN

South took the boys race 390-382 taking the top three spots with Timmy Crook first in the two-run combined time of 46.48 seconds, followed by Tommy Crook in 49.31 and Chase Swisher in 50.12. Logan Giltz was the other Panthers scorer coming in at 1:13.85 in eighth. Milan Mohan was ninth in 1:1677.

North took places 4 through 7. Fourth was Cam Scorpa (51.68), Jimmy Lombardi (fifth, 59.07), Finn Larney (sixth, 1:00.26) and Kaiden Mangiafico (seventh, 1:03.83.

Meanwhile, it was the North girls rolling 394-96 as South has been undermanned most of this early season. The Titans took places one through six with scorers being Rosie Nevue, first in 47.09, followed by Sam Nardone (second, 55.43), Kathryn Kiely (third, 1:04.18) and Lyra Plerhoples (fourth, 1:09.19). Olivia St. Hilaire was the lone South scorer/finisher, seventh in 1:22.48.

The Battle of the Bridge resumes 9 a.m. Sunday with boys and girls swimming at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua.

BOYS BASKETBALL

CAMPBELL 73, HILLSBORO-DEERING 53

Jack Breton led the way with 21 points, while Logan Rice had 20 and Matthew Haley added 13 for the red-hot Cougars.

Now 9-1, Campbell is at St. Thomas of Dover on Wednesday. The Cougars beat the Saints 64-52 at home just two weeks ago.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HILLSBORO-DEERING 32, CAMPBELL 22

The Cougars (2-8) dropped their third straight, with only three players getting into the scoring column. Zoe Bourque led the way with 14 while K. Silver and A. Chaudhry each had four.

The Cougars host St. Thomas on Wednesday.

TONGIHT’S GAMES

Milford and Souhegan boys and girls have the night off tonight, while for games in Nashua, it will be the South boys hosting Salem, North girls hosting Winnacunnet, and Bishop Guertin boys hosting Manchester Central.

The Alvirne boys are also home vs. Timberlane as is Merrimack vs. Concord.

On the road in local boys hoop are North (at Winnacunnet), Hollis Brookline (at John Stark) and Wilton-Lyndeborough (at Hinsdale).

Road warriors in girls include Nashua South (at Salem), Alvirne (at Timberlane) and WLC (at Hinsdale, 5:30 p.m.). Hollis Brookline will be home vs. John Stark at 6 p.m.
