HS Roundup: Admirals stay hot; BG girls get second win

Break up the Admirals. The Alvirne-Milford co-op is the hottest hockey team in the area, and you’ll see why if you read on.

Bishop Guertin also picked up a girls hockey win, while there’s wrestling galore — Milford captured the Winnacunnet Dual Meet Tourney for the fourth straight year — and track results from Phillips Exeter to check out from yet another busy, busy Saturday:

BOYS HOCKEY

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 4, SOMERSWORTH 1

The Admirals are sailing in smooth water, improving to 5-2 with their fourth straight win as Ari Scarbro had 22 saves while her teammates put 43 shots on the Hilltoppers goal at Skate 3.

Brandon Ganas scored two goals while Dylan MacLeod (goal, two assists) and Ryan Ricard (empty netter) also scored for the locals.

Other assists went to Braydon Atwood, Mason Tomkins, Bryce Larco and Evan Pargas.

HANOVER 4, NASHUA NORTH-SOUHEGAN 2

The Saber-Titans (0-7) were down 3-0 but made it a tight 3-2 game after two periods before falling to the Bears at Conway Arena.

N-S, which managed only 13 shots on goal, scored two second period goals, one by Conor Prunier and the other by Nathan D’Silva. Assists went to Christian Miller, Callen Cullity, Brody Sice and Jevon Anson. Tony Venzia had 27 stops in goal for the Saber-Titans, who are at Exeter on Friday.

MERRIMACK-HB-DERRYFIELD 1, DOVER 1 (0T)

Dover’s Kyle Behan tied the game with 55 seconds left in regulation, while Merrimack’s goal was by Jackson Woods with 24 seconds left in the opening period, assisted by Will Farrell and Josh Kahn.

James Brew had 36 saves for the WarHawks (5-2-1), who are off until next Saturday when they host Lebanon-Stevens-Mascoma.

GIRLS HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, BEDFORD 2

Riley Goldthwaite had a goal and two assists, while Kate Oskirko and Carly Green each scored a goal as the Cards got their second win of the year (2-4).

Giada Kennedy and Ari Pascik each had an assist. BG is slated to host Cheverus of Malden, Mass. on Monday at Skate 3.

WRESTLING

SOUHEGAN 74, NASHUA NORTH 6

In a quad meet match, the Titans managed a win by Owen Gagnon at 120 but that was it.

Saber wins went to Julian Zummo at 113 (pin), Jack Kaler at 126 (pin), Landon Carson at 132 (technical fall 19-4), Ben Smiley at 138 (tech fall, 17-0), Cole Brandt at 144 (11-2 major decision), Chase Knuckles at 150 (pin), Sam Albert at 157 (pin), Noah Daily at 165 (pin), Darwin Brown at 175 (pin), Gabriel Holt at 215 (pin) and Harrison Towne at 285 (pin).

SOUHEGAN 36, MASCENIC 6

In a match filled with forfeits/double forfeits, the Sabers got wins from Kyle Sucharoenphon at 106 (pin), Sam Albert at 157 (pin), Noah Daily at 165 (pin), and Gabriel Holt at 215 (pin).

CONCORD SUPER QUAD

CONCORD 52, BISHOP GUERTIN 15

The Cards, at the Concord Super Quad, managed wins by Austin Steinruck at 126 (3-2 decision), James Algeo at 132 (17-12 decision), Dominic Stamp at 138 (pin) and Jack Foster at 150 (1-0 decision).

CONCORD 51, ALVIRNE 24

The Bronco wins were by Kylar Cox at 106 (19-9 major decision), Tim Malley at 113 (pin), Shayne Mackey at 165 (pin), Quintin Tetreault at 190 (7-6 decision), and Shawn Boudreau at 215 (pin).

MILFORD WINS WINNACUNNET DUALS

The Spartans took home the title for the fourth straight year beating Campbell 72-12, Raymond 75-18, Exeter 45-28 and then topping Spaulding 47-24.

Beating Exeter avenged their only dual meet loss of the regular season.

MERRIMACK HALL OF FAME DUALS

TOMAHAWKS DROP THREE

Merrimack fell to Bow 51-16, Londonderry 54-30, and Salem 68-12.

In the Bow meet, the Tomahawks got pins by Carter Anderson at 175 and Tyler Hansbury at 285, plus an 8-0 major decision by Owen Sayball at 126.

Anderson got a pin vs. Salem at 175 as well.

In the Londonderry match, Merrimack wins were by Landon Shultz at 138 (pin), Joseph Elnar at 215 (pin), and Sayball at 132 (pin).

BOYS & GIRLS TRACK

Local teams competed at a meet at Phillips Exeter, with several winners. Here’s a look:

In the boys meet, Nashua South’s Marcel Perry won the 55 dash in 6.60 and was second in the long jump. The Panthers’ 4×200 relay team of Leonel Lopez, Tim Staveley, Ryan Jansen and Perry were first in 1:33.88. Ray Karuru also won the shot put at 45-00.25 while Liam Gallagher was second.

South’s Jansen was second in the 300 while Ryan DuVarney was second in the 1500.

Bishop Guertin’s Carson Fischer won the 1000 in 2:37.34 and the Cards won the 4×400 relay with Sam Prescott, Liam Ireland, Jack Mello and Braden Phemester coming in at 3:43.04.

Alvirne got a second from Shane Plumley in the 600 while Hollis Brookline’s Sam Bruneau took second in the 55 dash while the Cavs’ Brady McCammack was second in the 55 hurdles.

In the girls meet, Nashua South’s Nora Gautieri won the shot put at 33-07.25 with teammate Chloe Cruz third and Emily Richad fourth.

South’s Natalee Thomas was third in the 55 dash. Camrin Ayi was third in the 300 as was Sarah Witta in the long jump. Nashua South took second in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays.

Bishop Guertin’s Lyla Masson took second in the 3000

Alvirne’s Ava Martin was second in the 1000, as was Anna Simpson in the 1500. Olivia Cartagena took third in the 3000.

Hollis Brookline’s Grace Dow was third in the 55 hurdles and Molly Reardon the same in the 1000.
