HS Roundup: Kings get first win; Milford outwrestles BG

The Kings finally can feel like royalty.

Nashua South-Pelham picked up its first regular season win on Wednesday night.

“We played a full game of our brand of hockey,” Kings coach Jordan Sarracco said. “The team showed up for all three periods and they played with the heart and belief we’ve been searching for.”

That plus Milford’s wrestling win over BG and Alvirne’s over Merrimack highlight the usual hockey-wrestling midweek fun.

Here’s a look:

BOYS HOCKEY

NASHUA SOUTH-PELHAM 3, BOW 1

The Kings had gotten a couple of holiday tourney wins, but this was their first of the Division I regular season, putting them at 1-4. The host Falcons fell to 1-4-1. Ethan Robinson stood on his head in goal, facing 40-plus shots and limitig the Falcons to just one goal.

South-Pelham is at Windham on Saturday at the Salem Icenter.

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 6, BISHOP BRADY-MERRIMACK VALLEY 3

Braydon Atwood had a hat trick at Skate 3 as the Admirals improved to 4-2 with their third straight win, outshooting the visitors 50-33.

Mason Tomkins (goal), Dylan MacLeod and Bryce Larco (each with goal, assist) also tallied in the win. Other assists went to Brandon Callahan (two), Brandon Ganas (two), and Chris Bozza had assists. Ari Scarbro had 30 saves for the Admirals, who host Somersworth/Coe-Brown on Saturday.

MERRIMACK-HOLLIS BROOKLINE-DERRYFIELD 6, LEBANON-STEVENS-MASCOMA 0

The WarHawks recovered nicely from their shutout loss to Spaulding by getting a shutout of their own with James Brew in net on the road.

Now 5-2, MHBDS is at Dover on Saturday.

WRESTLING

MILFORD 53, BISHOP GUERTIN 24

The Spartans got wins on their Senior Night by their two seniors, Nate Post (forfeit) and Noah Kittredge (pin at 165).

Other Milford winners were J.J. Enright at 113 (pin), Calix LaJoie at 126 (7-1 decision), Cam Stickney at 138 (pin), Tanner Herbert at 144 (12-10 decision), and Jack Clancy at 175 (17-1 technical fall).

For BG, Wesley Steinruck (pin) won at 106, plus James Algeo (pin) at 132, Jack Foster (pin) at 150 and Bishop Kearns (pin) at 285.

NASHUA SOUTH 59, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 21

The Panthers benefited from seven Central forfeits, but also got wins from John Signor at 106 (tech fall, 17-1), Marion Gomez at 126 (pin), and Connor Whitman at 165 (pin).

SPAULDING 42, NASHUA NORTH 30

Titan wins included Owen Gagnon at 120 (pin), Sebastian Ochoa at 126 (11-0 major decision), Gavin Page at 132 (8-3 decision), Caleb Smith at 138 (tech fall 16-0), Julian Palladini at 144 (pin), and Kayden Vallerand-Kennaeally at 150 (pin).

ALVIRNE 48, MERRIMACK 28

The Broncos won the middle and heavier weight classes in this dual meet. Bronco wins were by Seth Marden at 150 (pin), Joseph Lydon at 157 (pin), Shayne Mackey at 165 (pin), Quintin Tetreault at 190 (pin), Shawn Boudreau at 215 (pin), Andrew Vertigans at 285 (pin), Kylar Cox at 106 (pin), and Timothy Malley at 120 (pin).

Merrimack’s Carter Anderson had a pin at 175 as did Mason Caron at 144. Owen Sayball got a technical fall at 126, as did Landon Shultz (29-9) at 138. Connor Sayball won by pin at 132.

SOUHEGAN 57, KINGSWOOD 24

The Sabers won seven straight matches en route to the dual meet win.

The streak began with three forfeits before Landon Carson (132), Ben Smiley (138) and Cole Brandt (144) all won by pin and they got another forfeit.

Sam Albert at 165 (pin), Liam Fisher at 190 (9-3 decision) and Gabriel Holt at 285 (pin) finished the Saber scoring.

CONCORD 53, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 20

Cavalier wins included Victor Lomme at 113 (pin), Scout Crea at 120 (tech fall, 17-1), Caden Bruseo at 138 (pin) and Jaco Critchfield at 157 (8-1 decision).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BELMONT 35, CAMPBELL 26

The Cougars fell to 2-6 despite 10 points from Katie Fluet and eight by Zoe Bourque. Campbell hosts Kearsarge on Friday.
