HS Roundup: South wins in OT; Souhegan, Milford split

They don’t get any busier locally than Tuesday night when just about every local high school basketball team was in action.
The Nashua South Panther boys are glad they made the trip for a late start at Londonderry; the Souhegan-Milford rivalry was renewed and keep an eye on the Hollis Brookline boys, who won their fourth straight.
Also, the area’s only two girls hockey teams met at Skate 3. Here’s the rundown:
BOYS BASKETBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 75, LONDONDERRY 74 (OT)
Josh Tripp hit a layup with 0.8 seconds left in overtime as the Panthers won a thriller in Londonderry. Josh Caruso knocks down 25 points for the Panthers (5-2).
Tripp and Ayden Clough each had 14 points with Daniel Karavanic adding 12. South hosts Windham on Friday.
PINKERTON 92, BISHOP GUERTIN 72
Connor McGowan scored 27 points in the Cardinals (3-4) loss to the Astros. Eli Youssef had a good game as well with 19 points. BG visits Dover on Friday.
PORTSMOUTH 58, MERRIMACK 39
The Tomahawks were keeping things close at 40-34 before back-to-back Clipper 3’s made it a 12 point game and Portsmouth took control, snapping the ‘Hawks’ four-game win streak.
Noah Morrison had 11, while Nate Johnson and Ryan Elliott each had 10 for Merrimack, now 4-2 and set to host Trinity (6-1) on Friday.
SALEM 71, ALVIRNE 66
The Broncos (3-4) lose their third straight contest when they visited the Blue Devils. Andrew Deely had a team high 14 points with Garrett Hall and Alex Valenzuela had 10 apiece. Alvirne hosts Londonderry on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 36, MILFORD 33
The Sabers (5-2) survived the battle with the Spartans (2-4) as Drew Reagan tallied 12 points and Max Hayes had eight. Milford’s Will O’Connell had a game high 24 points.
Souhegan hosts Pelham and Milford hosts Plymouth on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 53, BOW 40
The Cavs used a 21-5 second quarter to take control on the road and improve to 5-2. HB was led by Dylan Kelley and James Arthur each with 19 points while Alton Williams added 11.
HB hosts 4-2 Hanover on Friday at 7 p.m.
CAMPBELL 77, SOMERSWORTH 40
Cayden DeLeon (16 points, 10 assists) and Jayden Medina (12 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded a double-double in the Cougars (7-1) win. Matthew Haley tallied 12 points and four steals with Logan Rice adding 14 points. Campbell hosts Kearsarge on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
LONDONDERRY 65, NASHUA SOUTH 28
The Panthers (4-3) lose a big game at home to the undefeated Lancers. Addie Borden scored 12 points. South visits Windham on Thursday.
EXETER 59, NASHUA NORTH 51
The Titans (2-4) were down by three with 1:39 to go and an unfortunate turnover led to a breakaway layup to seal the game for the Clippers. Angie King collected 17 points with Aidan Walker and Madelyn Tino adding 10 apiece. North hosts Spaulding on Friday.
PINKERTON 52, BISHOP GUERTIN 43
The Cardinals record evens out at 3-3 after a loss to the Astros. Jas Rosario scored 16 points and Maggie Gallagher had seven. BG hosts Dover on Friday.
PORTSMOUTH 49, MERRIMACK 12
The Tomahawks (1-6) lose their fourth straight game on Tuesday. Avary Cruz scored six points. Merrimack visits Trinity on Friday.
BOW 37, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 29
The Cavs (4-3) three game winning streak ends with a loss to the Falcons. Anika Carlson played well collecting seven points and 13 rebounds.
Others having a good offensive night were Ana O’Donnell (six points), Emily Tebbetts (five points), Ysabel Ramas (four points), Mya Blackman (three points), Brooke Bouchard (two points) and Samantha Disco (two points). The Cavs gathered 28 team rebounds. HB visits Hanover on Friday.
MILFORD 55, SOUHEGAN 30
Ellianna Nassy scored a season high 18 points in the Spartans (5-1) win over the Sabers (3-4). Claire Cote tallied 11 points, Shea Hansen chipped in nine, Avery Fuller added eight and Lexi Bausha had seven. Milford connected on eight three-pointers.
Souhegan was paced by Caroline Drum’s 12 points. Milford visits Plymouth and Souhegan visits Pelham on Friday.
GIRLS HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 6, SOUHEGAN 0
The Cardinals (1-4) get their first win of the season with a shutout over the Sabers (0-6). Ari Pascik (goal, three assists), Riley Goldthwaite (two goals, assist), Katherine Oskirko (goal, assist), Aine Kelly (goal), Grace Spengler (goal) and Giada Kennedy (assist) paced the offense.
Scar Casey and Emily Powers combined for the shutout. BG visits Bedford on Saturday and Souhegan hosts Manchester Central-Memorial-West on January 22.
