HS Roundup: Titan boys win again; wins for North, South girls;

It seems like there was good news all around for local high school basketball fans as many of the area’s teams came out on top on Friday night.

Nashua North has quietly recovered from its 0-3 start, winning five straight, three in Division I. The South and North girls triumphed, while the Milford girls got a big overtime win.

And there’s plenty more, so read on:

BOYS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 58, GOFFSTOWN 44

The Titans were paced by Alize Roig-Cortes, who had 17 points, and Robinson Rodriguez, who added 14, 10 of that coming in the fourth quarter during which the Titans outscored the Grizzlies 23-14.

Tyler Dionne led Goffstown with 18 points. North, now 3-3, will host Exeter on Tuesday.

PORTSMOUTH 39,ALVIRNE 38

The Broncos continued theie rugged defensive play but fell just short on the seacoast. Now 3-3, Alvirne hopes to bounce back at Salem on Tuesday.

CAMPBELL 63, CONANT 45

The Cougars improve to 5-1 after a dominant win. Luke Delia (19 points), Jack Breton (16 points) and Logan Rice (14 points) paced the offense. Campbell hosts Belmont on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 60, CONVAL 55

The Sabers (4-2) pick up a win to stop their two game skid. Wes Hickman scored 17 points and Drew Reagan added 12. Souhegan visits Milford on Tuesday.

MERRIMACK VALLEY 53, MILFORD 50

The Spartans led 40-39 on the road heading into the fourth quarter but couldn’t hang on. An MV steal leading to an easy hoop gave the hosts a 51-48 lead with 1:09 left.

Will O’Connell played well for Milford (2-3), which hosts rival Souhegan on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 68,BISHOP BRADY 34

The Cavs improved to 5-3 with a dominant road win as they stormed out to a 34-14 halftime lead and never looked back.

Dylan Kelley led HB with 11 points while Yarie Ramas added nine and Will McCoy seven. Every HB player scored while Alton Williams and Kelley led the defensive effort.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 55, GOFFSTOWN 44

Lily Small was all over the court gathering 14 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead the Titans (2-3) over the Grizzlies.

Angie King scored 19 points and Aidan Walker had 11 points with 11 rebounds. North visits Exeter on Tuesday.

NASHUA SOUTH 56, TRINITY 39

Nicole DeJesus knocks down 22 points in the Panthers (4-2) road win Friday night. Karina O’Donnell scored 18 points and Addie Borden had eight. South hosts Londonderry on Tuesday.

SOUEHGAN 54, CONVAL 13

The Sabers (3-3) notch their third straight win in decisive fashion. Caroline Drum and Zofia Rosenfield tallied 11 and 10 points respectively. Souhegan hosts Milford on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 42, BISHOP BRADY 28

The Cavs (4-2) were all over the glass ripping down 37 rebounds on Friday. Ana O’Donnell scored 11 points for the offensive unit. Ysabel Ramas, Samantha Disco and Brooke Bouchard led the defense with Anika Carlson collecting nine rebounds. HB hosts Bow on Tuesday.

MILFORD 51, MERRIMACK VALLEY 50 (OT)

The Spartans (4-1) scored all of its points from the free-throw line in overtime, to pull out the win in a back and forth contest. Milford led 33-15 at the half before the Pride stormed back to outscore the locals 14-0 in the third quarter. Shea Hansen had a game high 17 points, Avery Fuller scored 11 with Lexi Bausha and Claire Cote added seven apiece. Milford visits Souhegan on Tuesday.

CONANT 48, CAMPBELL 18

Kate Silver and Katie Fluet scored four points apiece in the Cougars (1-5) loss. Campbell visits Somersworth on Monday.
