HS Roundup: BG girls hoop rolls on road; Broncos fall at home

The Bishop Guertin High School girls basketball team, like its boys counterpart, may be finding its groove.
The Cards won their second in a row by a rout in Rochester. Meanwhile, closer to home, the Alvirne girls’ struggles continue. We also have some ski results to check out on a relaxed Thursday:
GIRLS BASKETBALL
BISHOP GUERIN 56, SPAULDING 25
It was raining 3’s in Rochester for the 3-2 Cards, as they hit nine, led by Laura Marino’s four en route to her game-high 17 points. Holly Dufoe added 11. BG led 36-11 at the half and that was that.
The Red Raiders are now 1-5. BG is at Pinkerton on Tuesday.
PORTSMOUTH 42, ALVIRNE 33
The Broncos dropped their third straight in Division I, fourth overall, despite a 16 point effort by Courtney Anderson.
Now 3-3, it’s Alvirne’s turn to head to Spaulding on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
BOYS & GIRLS SKIING
CROOK SHINES FOR SOUTH
Nashua South’s Timmy Crook finished third overall as the best local in a boys/girls Giant Slalom race at Pat’s Peak.
Bedford won the boys race (384) with Portsmouth (373) second. North (276) was eighth and South (250) ninth. The Titans’ Camden Scorpa was 38th in 1:07.38 and Jimmy Lombardi 50th. After Crook’s time of 51.01 seconds, South’s Chase Swisher had a good race, finishing 18th in 58.61.
Bedford took the girls race as well with 392 points, ahead of Portsmouth’s 377. North was eighth while South didn’t place as a team.
Leading the Titans was Sam Nardone, 18th in 1:02.06, while Kathryn Kieley was 38th in 1:25.50.
