HS Roundup: Admirals win in OT; HB, Milford wrestlers on top

As the winter chill sets in, the Alvirne-Milford hockey team is trying to provide some heat.

The Admirals got a big overtime win on Wednesday, while the Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield tri-op won in a rout on the road.

But that’s just hockey. We’ve got some wrestling for you too, as the Milford season continues to flourish, and HB won an all-local battle. Here’s a look at a wild Wednesday:

BOYS HOCKEY

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 8, TIMBERLANE 7 (OT)

Dylan Macleod got the game-winner in overtime for the Admirals (2-2), scoring at 3:29 with an assist from Brandon Ganas, who had a hat trick to go with two assists at Skate 3 Arena.

Braydon Atwood had a goal and three assists, while Bryce Larco had two goals and Brandon Callahan had a goal on a penalty shot.

Admirals goalie Ari Scarbo had eight saves in earning her first varsity win, while starting netminder Mason Komarek had six saves.

Alvirne-Milford is at Goffstown on Saturday night at 7.

MHBDS 7, PORTSMOUTH-NEWMARKET 0

The WarHawks improved to 4-1 led by Will Farrell’s four goals. Adam Gertz had a goal and an assist while Zac Hallas and Mason Crose each had a goal.

Other assists went to Jackson Woods with two, Blake Beaulieu and Colin Hamlin. James Brew had 13 saves for MHBDS, which hosts Spauling on Saturday at West Side Arena.

TRINITY 6, NASHUA NORTH-SOUHEGAN 0

The Saber-Titans (0-4) were the victim of another four-goal effort, this by the Pioneers’ Max Beaulieu, making life tough on N-S goalie Dylan O’Neil (17 saves).

Trinity (2-1) broke things open with four second period goals.

North-Souhegan is at Bedford on Monday.

WRESTLING

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 57, MERRIMACK 19

The host Cavs dominated with wins by Caden Bruseo at 144 (pin), Daniel Frixione at 150 (pin), Jacob Critchfield at 157 (pin), Daniel Hallas at 190 (pin), Phillip Berke at 215 (10-1 major decision), Victor Lomme at 113 (pin), Guy LaFreniere at 120 (technical fall 21-5), and Hunter Knight at 138 (pin).

Merrimack got wins by Tyler Hansbury at 285 (technical fall 17-2), Owen Sayball at 126 (11-8 decision) and Connor Sayball at 132 (15-0 technical fall), and a forfeit at 175.

MILFORD 39, GOFFSTOWN 35

The Spartans pulled out a close, hard-fought match with wins by Kane Davis at 120 (tech fall), pins by Caliz LaJoie (126), Tanner Herbert (144), Nate Post (190) and Eli Wales (215), plus a major decision by Jace Wilhemi at 157.

BISHOP GUERTIN 42, KINGSWOOD 34

The Cards got wins from Wesley Steinruck (106), Austin Steinruck (126), James Algeo (132), Dominic Stamp (138), Jack Foster (150), Kobe Spinney (165) and Bishop Kearns (285).

KEENE 63, NASHUA NORTH 15

The Titans got wins from Owen Gagnon at 120 (pin), Julian Palladini at 144 (6-2 decision) and a forfeit.

BOW 78, CAMPBELL 6

The Cougars got one win, a pin by Samuel Bake at 120.

SOUHEGAN 64, PORTSMOUTH 13

The Sabers dominated with wins by Julian Zummo at 106 (pin), Jack Kaler at 126 (pin), Ben Smiley at 138 (tech fall 16-0), Chase Knuckles at 150 (tech fall 17-2), Sam Albert at 157 (pin), Noah Daily at 165 (pin), Patrick Casey at 175 (pin), and Gabriel Holt at 285 (pin).
