HS Roundup: Milford outwrestles HB; local skiers do well
The first high school sporting events of 2025 are in the books.
And when it comes to wrestling, it was a pretty good one for Milford, which beat a local rival as the dual meet season resumed on Thursday night.
Also, the ski season opened for both Nashua North, South, Merrimack and Bishop Guertin in a meet hosted by Pinkerton and won by Bedford at Pat’s Peak.
Here’s your first local roundup of 2025:
WRESTLING
MILFORD 42, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 31
The host Spartans got wins at 120 by Kane Davis (pin), Calix LaJoie at 126 (decision), Max Hammerstrom at 132 (pin), Tanner Hebert at 144 (pin), Noah Kittredge at 165 (8-4 decision), Nate Post at 190 (pin), and pins by Eli Wales at 215 and Brandon Leeman at heavyweight.
For the Cavs, their wins came by Vic Lomme at 113 (pin), Caden Bruseo at 138 (pin), Daniel Frixione at 150 (technical fall), Jacob Critchfield at 157 (pin) and Dylan Manley at 175 (decision).
“It was a battle till the last couple of matches,” Spartans assistant coach Robbie Millward said. “We showed a lot of heart tonight and the coaches are proud of what we saw.”
GOFFSTOWN 77, MERRIMACK 6
The Tomahawks could only muster a win at 126 by Owen Sayball via pin at 3:38.
BOYS & GIRLS SKIING
Tommy Crook of Nashua South and Rosalie Neveu of North were both fifth in their respective slalom races as the ski season opened. Bishop Guertin’s Austin Harvey was the top boys local in fourth and Arianna Hughes also was fourth for BG in the girls race.
Bedford won the boys meet with 376 points followed by Keene (368) and Pinkerton (338). Locally Bishop Guertin was fourth at 273 while Nashua South (181) was sixth, just beating out North (158) in seventh.
Harvey’s combined time was 1:08.61, while Finley Bouvier was 12th (1:18.23) and Max DeRosa 14th (1:20.94) for the Cards.
Crook’s time was 1:11.35 for South, while Chase Swisher was 18th in 1:24.99. For North, Camden Scorpa (26, 1:36.34) and Finn Larney (2:24.05) were the top boys skiers.
Bedford won the girls race as well at 391, led by overall winner Reilly Andrews. The Cards were second at 370, followed by Keene at 346. North was fifth with 96 points. South and Merrimack were too limited with three skiers each to be able to score as a team.
Neveu’s time was 1:14.28, while for BG Hughes came in just ahead at 1:14.20.
Other scorers for the Cards included Olivia Nestor in 10th in 1:22.49, Madison Cali in 12th (1:28.53), and Kaelyn Steward 13th (1:29.62). Raeagan Trudel (20th), Laura Balzano (23) and Stela Dabrowski (27) also skied well.
For Merrimack, Joyce Theriault (24th), Ava Woods (26) and Sydnee Capen (29) were able to score.
