Bedford rules pool but locals, including South’s Perrys, shine

NASHUA — The Nashua High School South boys and girls swim teams, along with those from Hollis Brookline and Souhegan, got their wins when they could in a four-team meet dominated by Bedford Sunday at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua.
Bedford finished the day 6-0, with the boys and girls teams each getting three wins over the locals.
The Souhegan boys and Hollis Brookline girls each went 2-1, while both South teams went 1-2. The HB boys went 0-3 while the girls went 2-1.
In the matchups just between the locals, the Souhegan boys wins were 98-60 over South, and 94-52 over HB. South beat HB 68-62.
In the girls, South beat Souhegan 112-30 while HB beat Souhegan 126-28 and South 117-70.
In the boys meet, the biggest highlight was South’s Nathan Perry setting a school record in six dives, totaling 117.65
BOYS HIGHLIGHTS
Souhegan got a win from Riley Wilson in the 200 IM in 2:09.67, and he also took the 500 free in 5:07.63. Saber Thatcher Daily was second in the 50 free and 100 breast. The Sabers 400 free relay team of Jonah Saunders, Josh Spillane, Drew Rigaut and Daily was second.
Hollis Brookline’s Jack Ablondi won the 100 breast. South’s Perry was also fourth in the 100 free. His Panther teammate Henry Long was second in diving.
GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS
Souhegan’s Izzie Gilbert captured the 200 free in 2:03.94 as well as the 100 back 1:07.00. Saber Caitlyn Chorney was second in the 100 breast.
The HB 200 Medley relay team of Mackenzie Talbot, Annka Pisarsky, Lauren Kennedy and Ava Belmonte was second. Cavalier Lexi Dattis was second in the 200 IM and Talbot third in the 100 butterfly and 500 free. Talbot, Pisarsky, Ava Belmonte and Dattis were second in the 200 free relay. And, the Cavs’ 400 free relay team of Lauren Kennedy, Eva Zgurskaya, Shantell Rizzitano and Dattis too second as well.
South’s Katelyn Perry captured the diving for the second straight week at 150.10 while teammates Elsie Goyette took second and Keegan Dolan third. Teresa Mathew was third in the 50 and 100 free.
