To the victors go the honors.

There was a reason why the Souhegan High School football team won the Division II championship two weeks ago: The Sabers had the best players and the best coach.

And perhaps their best player, junior quarterback Michael Fiengo, was named the Division II West Conference Player of the Year. Head coach Robin Bowkett was the West’s Coach of the Year.

Fiengo, who dazzled the opposition as well as his teammates with his ability to run and throw on the run, was a touchdown waiting to happen. He led a group of 10 Sabers named to the team. Saber First Teamers were running back Ryland Raudelunas, wide receiver Brody Smith, tight end Brayden Hickman, kicker Owen Drake, defensive linemen Luis toledo and Sean Reardon and linebacker Grant Harris.

The other Sabers were on Second Team: OL Michah Dibble, and DL Jon Buasha.

Milford and Hollis Brookline also had players on the team; Milford receiver Kadyn Tessier and HB back Sam Bruneau were on Second Team offense, while on Second Team Defense were Spartan lineman Logan Chamberlin and linebacker Jace Wilhemi.
