NASHUA – Bishop Guertin’s Akira Coravos certainly made an impact for the Cardinals this past fall as they came within a whisker of ending Bedford’s now five-year Division I girls volleyball dynasty.

It didn’t go unnoticed as she was named the Division I Player of the Year by the New Hampshire Volleyball Coaches Association, which released its All-State Teams.

During the regular season – which the honor is based on – Coravos, an outside hitter, had 264 kills, 149 digs and 62 aces.

But Coravos wasn’t the only local high school volleyball name to earn big honors. The area has the Division I and II Coaches of the Year: Merrimack’s Tammy Lambrou earned the Division I honors as the Tomahawks finished 12-6 and made the tournament for the first time in several years. Milford’s Haley Patch took the Division II honors as she guided the Spartans to a 14-2 regular season record and berth in the state finals.

Locally, besides Coravos, Hollis Brookline’s Maggie Noble and Merrimack’s Amelia Walker were Division I First Teamers while on Second Team were Nashua South’s Mia Suljic and Molly Lecklider, BG’s Veronica Gomez and Merrimack’s Noor Eldeib and Rachel Flett. Honorable Mentions included BG’s Brooke Partridge, and Merrimack’s Sofia Victal.

In Division II, Campbell’s Ava Grant and Milford’s Abby Krulis were First Teamers while Souhegan’s Reagan Pepin and Milford’s Piper Greenhalgh were on Second Team. Souhegan’s Juliana Koch and Julia Colantuoni were Honorable Mentions.
