HS Roundup: BG girls win, South boys tie; volleyball teams on top

The ties have it — again.

The Nashua High School South boys soccer team got its third tie of the season, while the Bishop Guertin girls soccer team keeps winning, and the Nashua North girls volleyball team got a big one too. In fact, five of the local volleyball teams reported wins.

It all added up to an unusually very busy fall Thursday, so here we go:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 1, GOFFSTOWN 1

Steve Long scored on an assist from Kevin Araujo in the Panthers (5-4-3) tie. Alex Lopez, Michele Esposito and Damien Rodrigues played well for the locals. South visits Pinkerton on October 17.

MERRIMACK 4, TIMBERLANE 2

The Tomahawks (6-4-3) scored four goals in the second half after trailing 2-0 at halftime to grab the win. Adrian Talbot scored two goals with Danyil Kovryzheno and Ryan Cirillo adding one apiece. Merrimack visits Dover on October 17.

BOW 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

For the third game in a row the Cavs couldn’t find the back of the net dropping their record to 6-5-1. HB visits Kingswood on Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

BISHOP GUERTIN 1, SALEM 0

Ava Suech secured the win by scoring the lone goal of the match. Paige Gabriel, Ava Borecki, Hadley Comeau, Meghan Hartshorn and Jess LaCroix anchored the defense. BG (11-1) hosts Timberlane on Monday.

GOFFSTOWN 4, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers (6-4-1) get shutout on the road by the Grizzlies. Reese Doolan and Maria Davito played strong up and down the field. South hosts Dover on Saturday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

NASHUA NORTH 3, GOFFSTOWN 0

Taylor Joyal had a phenomenal hitting game leading the Titans (7-6) to a sweep of the Grizzlies. North visits Keene on Keene.

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, WINDHAM 1

The Cardinals (9-4) defeated the Jaguars 25-23, 12-25, 22-25, 22-25. Veronica Gomez, Akira Coravos and Brooke Partridge stood out for the locals. BG hosts Goffstown on Wednesday.

NASHUA SOUTH 3, WINNACUNNET 0

The Panthers (10-3) sweep the Warriors 25-8, 25-18, 25-16. Mia Suljic (16 kills, four digs, two aces) recorded her 500th career kill while leading South. Molly Lecklider (seven kills, nine digs, three aces) and Rebecca Walter (11 assists, six digs, 18 service points) also had major contributions in the win. South visits Merrimack on Tuesday.

MILFORD 3, KENNETT 0

The Spartans (12-1) collect their third straight sweep by the scores 25-9, 25-20, 25-13. Leading Milford were Abby Krulis (eight aces, seven digs, four kills), Paige Davis (six aces, five digs, kill), Harper Anderson (nine kills, three digs), Amelia Hebert (three kills, block), Beth Brooks (three kills, block), Emma Desrochers (10 assists, kill, two digs, ace) and Piper Greenhalgh (two aces, 22 digs). Milford hosts Plymouth on Wednesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, EXETER 0

The Cavs improve to 10-3 by defeating the Blue Hawks 25-22, 25-23, 25-13. Anika Carlson (14 kills), Maggie Noble (eight kills, four aces), Lolly Adair (six kills, five aces) and Kate Berrigan (five kills, ace) contributed in the win. HB hosts Bedford on Tuesday.

BEDFORD 3, ALVIRNE 0

The Broncos are still seeking that first win, as powerful four-time defending Division I champion Bedford enjoyed a 25-15, 25-11,25-10 sweep.

Samantha Schiller (seven digs) and Courtney Anderson (five kills) paced the Broncos.
