Yes, football is becoming almost a seven day/night a week sport, isn’t it? We even have Thursday night games in high school in New Hampshire.

Actually, they help out the game officials, as they are spread thin with a shortage and a glut of Friday night and Saturday games.

Let’s see if it helps the Broncos, who have a quick turnaround and not much time to think about last week’s lopsided loss at Londonderry:

DIVISION I

TONIGHT

ALVIRNE (3-2) at SPAULDING (0-4 Division I, 1-4 overall)

WHEN: 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: SHS Hugo Bolin Field in Rochester.

LAST WEEK: Londonderry 44, Alvirne 0; Exeter 42, Spaulding 7.

LAST YEAR: Did not play.

FYI: The Red Raiders’ lone win came against Edward Little of Auburn, Me., but they pulverized them 41-12. They’ve had lopsided losses to physical teams like Keene and Exeter, but have played Winnacunnet (13-6) and Manchester Memoial (21-14) close so the Broncos have to be ready. Both teams are looking to get over rough losses, and remember, it’s an odd game night – Thursday games help the officials shortage – and that usually favors the underdogs. Jonas Levesque is a senior back to watch for Spaulding, and of course Mike Landmesser and QB Charlie Crawford pace the Broncos.

THE PICK: Alvirne 23, Spaulding 12. The Broncos grind out a road win.
