Monday was a good day to stay indoors, and that’s what most of the local high school sports teams did as volleyball led the day, with wins by Nashua South and a red-hot Milford squad:

The Panthers moved to 8-3 with a 25-19, 25-12, 25-23 sweep, paced by Mia Suljic’s 15 kills and five digs. Molly Lecklider added five aces, 10 digs, and five kills. Mena Lewis led Alvirne with four aces and 11 assists, while Courtney Anderson had 11 kills.

South is back at it again today at Salem, while Alvirne, still seeking its first win at 0-11, is at Bedford on Thursday.

The Cardinals played the Astros tight at first, losing the opening set 26-24, but then fell 25-15, 25-16 as vicims of a sweep.

Setter Brooke Partridg, hitters Arika Coravos and Allison Marino, and libero Veronica Gomez played well for 8-3 BG, who visit Bedford tonight.

MILFORD 3, PELHAM 0

The Spartans captured their sixth win in a row to improve to 11-1 with a hard-fougth 25-11, 29-27, 25-22 road sweep.

FIELD HOCKEY

NASHUA SOUTH 2, GOFFSTOWN 1
