One of the area’s – and the state’s – top football players reached a major milestone on Saturday.

Not only did Campbell High School’s Scott Hershberger lead his Cougars to a 50-14 win over Gilford on Saturday, he surpassed the 5,000 yard career yard mark rushing.

Hersberger rushed 13 times for 220 yards. His brother Nick had three rushing touchdowns while other rushing scores, one each, were by QB Mikey Grace, Braydon White, and Brody Pinciaro.

Pinciaro also added a defensive TD.

Now 5-0, Campbell hits the road for the remainder of the regular season. The Cougars are at Epping-Newmarket at 12 p.m. next Saturday, then travel to Lebanon on Oct. 18 before a showdown with rival Monadnock (also 5-0) on Nov. 1 following a week off.

The Cavaliers keep trying to close the gap, but fell to 0-5 on Saturday as the Generals went 2-1 overall in three straight weeks against the area’s Division II teams.

HB is at ConVal next Friday at 7 p.m.
