HS Roundup: Merrimack, North, HB volleyball teams all win
There are a lot of good volleyball teams in Division I in the area, and three of them – Merrimack, Hollis Brookline and Nashua North all came up with wins on Monday night.
Here’s your start-to-the-week rundown:
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
MERRIMACK 3, EXETER 0
The visiting Tomahawks improved to 8-2 with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-20 sweep, led by Amelia Walker’s 16 kills, two blocks and three aces.
Rachel Flett (seven kills, two aces), Noor Eldeib (20 assists, four kills, seven digs), and Sovia Victal (seven assists, 16 digs) also played well for Merrimack, which hosts Salem on Wednesday.
NASHUA NORTH 3, TIMBERLANE 0
The Titans avoided a letdown, following up last week’s big win over rival Nashua South with a sweep at home over the Owls.
Now 6-4, North will be at Pinkerton on Wednesday.
DOVER 3, ALVIRNE 0
The Broncos came out on the wrong end of a 25-22, 25-11, 25-16 sweep despite good play from Hailee Lane and Courtney Anderson.
Now 0-9, Alvirne will try to for that elusive first win at home vs. Spaulding on Wednesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, SPAULDING 0
The host Cavs improved to 6-2 with a 2-16, 25-22, 25-16 sweep, led by Maggie Noble’s seven kills.
Other keys were Kate Berrigan (three kills, three aces), Lolly Adair (two kills, two aces) and Shelby Klaasens (four aces).
HB hosts Windham on Wednesday.
FIELD HOCKEY
WINDHAM 3, NASHUA SOUTH 0
Isabelle Shiju had nine saves while Meury Navarette added 12, sharing goaltender duties for the visiting Panthers (2-8).
Karina O’Donnell, Molly Mullaney and Emme Christian also played well for South, which hosts Keene on Wednesday at Stellos Stadium.
GOLF
BEDFORD 180, NASHUA NORTH 199, CENTRAL 206
The Titans’ Conor Prumer tied for medalist honors with a 36, while Mogan Barry had a 38 and Drew Goulet shot 39 to pace the Titans. Warren Farley (42) and Ryder Clancy (44) also figured in the scoring.
