As always, there was good and bad news on Friday night with local high school football.
Merrimack, after suffering a tough one-point loss last week, won a thriller over Keene at Student Memorial Field while host Souhegan rolled over Manchester West in a battle of unbeatens.
Not to be outdone, Campbell stayed unbeaten in Division III by outlasting Somersworth in a rare night game in Litchfield.
The new wasn’t so good for Division II teams Milford and Hollis Brookline.
Here’s a look:
MERRIMACK 20, KEENE 13
Sahil Mujawar raced in for a 3-yard TD run to snap a 13-all tie with 6:27 left to give the Tomahawks a 2-1 mark in Division I, 2-2 overall.
It was Mujawar’s second TD of the night, as he ran it in from 9 yards out to tie the game at 13 with 7:23 left in the third quarter. Early in the game Mujawar hit Shea Eagan on a short pass and Eagan raced 72 yards to tie the game at 7 in the first quarter.
Keene had taken a 7-0 lead early in the game on a Peyton Gowell 5-yard TD run following a Merrimack fumble. Sawyer Lepple’s 2-yard run gave Keene a 13-7 lead in the third quarter.
Merrimack’s Cayden Dine got a huge interception near the goal line late to preserve the win as the ‘Hawks ran out the clock. The Blackbirds fell to 2-2.
Merrimack is at Bedford next Friday.
