There is still one boys high school tennis team still playing.

Step right up, Hollis Brookline. The Cavaliers edged Goffstown in the Division II quarterfinals on Friday. Unfortunately, Souhegan and Nashua South both fell 5-4 in their quarterfinals. South’s was the unkindest loss of all, a doubles injury forfeit costing them. “Heartbreaker,” Panthers coach Brice Miller said.

Here’s the rundown on the tennis tourney as well as the rest of Friday’s final day of the regular season for the other spring sports that featured another Alvirne baseball upset and a big win by Bishop Guertin baseball.

DIVISION II QUARTERFINAL

NO. 5 HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, NO. 4 GOFFSTOWN 4

Arjun Inakollu, John Torpey and Greyson McSeveney won in singles and the Cavaliers took two of three doubles to advance. Inakollu/Sam Anthony and McSeveney/Dylan Legrow won in doubles.

Their reward: HB (11-4) visits No. 1 Lebanon (15-0) on Tuesday in the semifinals. The Cavs fell to the Raiders 6-3 back on May 8.

NO. 2 WINDHAM 5, NO. 7 SOUHEGAN 4

The Sabers were the first team to hand Windham a loss 10 days ago, but this time the Jaguars turned the tables, taking four of six singles to and getting the needed doubles win.

Winning singles matches for Souhegan (9-7) were Brian Goddard (8-4) and Patrick Bryson (9-7). Connor Firmin/Balthazar Glover and Ryan Fernandez/Bryson won in doubles.

The season still was a success for Souhegan, which was 2-6 when the month started and reeled off seven straight.

DIVISON I QUARTERFINALS

NO. 5 EXETER 5, NO. 4 NASHUA SOUTH 4

The Panthers were down 4-1 at one point, their only win by No. 1 Abhinav Avvaru. But in a tight match, No. 6 Raghev Buddhineni edged Exeter’s Nick Rosa, 9-7, to keep the Panthers alive going into doubles.

They then got a win by Avvaru/Buddhineni 8-6 at No.1, and but Exeter took No. 2. However, South’s No. 3 tandem of Mihir Garimella/Aadi Kulkarni had to forfeit their match vs. Exeter’s Pavel Pazourek/Rosa due to injury.
