HS Roundup: BG lax sweeps South; Bronco nine gets first win

Ahhh, high school vacation week is a thing of the past and it was a manic Monday once gain locally. We saw a Bishop Guertin lacrosse sweep, a big milestone for the Cards Anna Campel, and the Broncos finally broke through on the baseball diamond.

Here’s your Monday report:

BASEBALL

ALVIRNE 14, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 13

The Broncos (1-18) survived giving up six Crusader runs in the sixth and four in the fifth at Manchester’s Gill Stadium, giving Coulton Houle his first career win as Alvirne head coach.

Chase Mitchell had a hit and three RBIs while Kyle Dufour had two hits, two RBIs, two runs and M Francisco went 3 for 5 with an RBI while Jameson Kreuger and Jaxson Polleck combined for four hits, three RBIs and five runs scored.

Brendon Ganas came on and pitched 1.2 innings scoreless ball to settle things down and get the save.

CONCORD 8, NASHUA NORTH 3

The Titans drop to 5-3 after their loss to Concord. Nolan Sullivan had one hit and a run and Ty Madeira added a hit. North visits Londonderry on Wednesday.

SOUHEGAN 14, SANBORN 0

Ethan Gaudet recorded a no hitter in five innings striking out one. The Sabers (6-2) offense was led by Drew Reagan (hit, three RBIs, stolen base), Nolan Colby (two hits, run, two RBIs, stolen base), Matt Silk (hit, two runs, RBI, stolen base), Cam Brown (run), Joe Mayo (hit, RBI), Sean Zerega (two hits, two runs), Blake Powers (two hits, two runs, stolen base), Max Hayes (three runs, stolen base) and Teddy Katsel (hit, two runs). Souhegan hosts ConVal on Wednesday.

MERRIMACK 14, TIMBERLANE 3

Logan Hoag picked up the win allowing four hits, three earned runs and striking out three in the Tomahawks (7-1) dominant win. Shay Collins closed the game striking out the side to secure the win. Ryan Mainey (three hits, three RBIs) and Zach Retey (two hits, four RBIs) led the offense. Merrimack visits Bedford on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 10, HOPKINTON 7

Braydon White sent one over the fence for his first homerun in the Cougars (6-1) win. Hunter Henderson tallied four hits. Campbell visits Mascoma Valley on Friday.

ST, THOMAS 16, MILFORD 3

The Spartans (1-4) lose their fourth consecutive game. Ethan Szopa had two hits and a RBI with Michael Lima adding a double and a RBI. Lima gave up no earned runs and struck out three on the mound. Milford visits Sanborn on Wednesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, CONVAL 4

Dylan Morelli had 13 strikeouts in seven innings and allowed four runs on seven hits for the Cavs (2-4). Leading the offense were Matt Bergin (four hits, run, two RBIs), Morelli (three hits, two RBIs), Logan Theriault (two hits, run, three RBIs), Paul Gehan (hit, run), Thomas Howie (hit, run, RBI), Keenan Myers (hit, two runs) and Travis Lafontaine (hit, two runs, RBI). HB hosts Coe-Brown on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL

DOVER 11, NASHUA SOUTH 10 (8 innings)

The Panthers (0-5) fall in close contest for their fifth straight loss.

They allowed two Dover homers in the seventh that evened the game, while Brooke Berger gave them a 10-8 lead in the top of the inning on a RBI double. Jill Daley took the loss in relief for the Panthers.

South visits Manchester Central on Tuesday.

LONDONDERRY 12, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals fell to 4-3 and have had a tough two game stretch, being outscored 27-3. They get back at it on Wednesday hosting Manchester West-Trinity.

CAMPBELL 12, MILFORD 4

The Cougars (2-4) get past the Spartans (1-4) in Mondays matchup. Milford’s Hannah Harrington and Mya Coombs both had two hits on the day. Campbell hosts Pelham and Milford visits Sanborn on Wednesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8, CONVAL 1

Kailey Disco struck out seven in the Cavs (5-1) win. Disco added two hits and two runs and Ava Imbrogno scored the first run of a scoreless game in the sixth innings. HB hosts Coe-Brown on Wednesday.

BOYS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 14, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Cards had a plethora of scorers in jumping out to an 8-0 lead and not looking back. They included Caleb Yeung (two goals), Cam Hayden (two goals), Liam Connerty (two goals) and a goal apiece for Sean McGary, Owen King, Jeremy Warren, Brady Dumont, Ronan Balestreri, Carter Jozokos, Drew Redfern and Paulo Vazquez

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 12, SOUHEGAN 9

Ben Dufoe found the back of the net four times to lead the Cavs (7-1) over the Sabers (1-6). Vittorio Masoni had a hat trick and Bennett Torgersen scored two goals. Colin Magnuszewski, Mike O’Hearn and Connor Cook also scored in the win. Bryson Giersch and Magnuszewski picked up 10 and six ground balls respectively.

HB hosts Portsmouth and Souhegan hosts Salem on Wednesday.

BOW 17, MILFORD 2

Dylan MacLeod scored his first varsity goal in the Spartans (0-4) loss. Braydon Atwood scored the other goal with an assist from Tyler Descoteaux. Milford visits Inter-Lakes on Wednesday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 14, NASHUA SOUTH 4

The Cardinals improve to 5-2 with a win over the Panthers (4-4) as Anna Campel had a pair of goals, including her 100th career.

Arianna Kouchalakos and Lauren Redfern had three goals apiece while Sarah Brunelle added a pair with single scores by Skylar Naftali, Kamryn Schmitt, Jordan Geabel and Lola Dumont.

South’s Nevaeh Eppolitto had two goals and an assist, Karina O’Donnell and Ella Benzekri each had a goal and Morgan Uzdanovich tallied two assists. Keira Walsh collected nine saves in the loss. BG hosts Merrimac on Wednesday and South visits Nashua North on Thursday.

EXETER 18, NASHUA NORTH 4

The Titans (0-8) fall on the road to the Blue Hawks. Summer St. Pierre collected three goals and an assist and Molly Ducharme tallied a goal and an assist. North hosts Nashua South on Thursday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 17, JOHN STARK 2

The Cavs (2-4) cruise by John Stark on Monday. Sabrina Hill collected 10 points (five goals, five assists), Cailean Roy had three goals with two assists and Samantha Smith added three goals to lead the offense. Charlotte Petrella and Juliette Ogren had two goals apiece, while Elise Broadhurst and Blake Curley had one goal each. Addison Dougherty made eight saves in net. HB hosts Bow on Wednesday.

BEDFORD 15, SOUHEGAN 14

The Sabers (5-3) lose a close battle to the undefeated Bulldogs. Libby Kennedy scored six goals with two assists. Others playing well were Natalie Heimarck (goal, assist), Lyla Kimball (two goals, assist), Emma Kennedy (two goals, assist), Lanai Hickman (three goals) and Catie Schriever (five saves). Souhegan hosts Exeter on Wednesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

BISHOP GUERTIN 9, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 0

The Cardinals (6-0) shutout Memorial on Monday afternoon. The team of Bailey Filteau/Faith Hebert picked up a key win in doubles. BG hosts Merrimac on Wednesday.

EXETER 6, NASHUA NORTH 3

The Titans (2-3) had one win in singles with Caitlyn Mamos (8-5). The teams of Saaya Rane/Mamos (8-2) and Patricia Rodriguez/Brielle Baxter (8-6) won in doubles. North hosts Manchester Central on Tuesday.

MANCHESTER CENTRAL 7, ALVIRNE 2

Sam Schiller won a tiebreaker 9-8, 7-4 for the Broncos (1-5) lone win. Alvirne hosts Londonderry on Tuesday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

LONDONDERRY 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals (1-4) lose their third straight game by the scores of 16-25, 12-25, 16-25. Aidan Holt and Sean Schultz had seven and six digs respectively. BG hosts John Stark on Wednesday.

SOUHEGAN 3, JOHN STARK 0

The Sabers (7-0) continue to roll past their opponents. Addison Hodgdon (nine kills, two aces), Everette Boyer (10 kills, two aces), Adyn Davis (five kills, three aces) and Chase McBride (nine digs, four aces) led the locals. Souhegan visits Coe-Brown on Wednesday.
