Battle of the Bridge: Panthers sweep co-ed track meet

NASHUA – The Bridge is starting to see a small coat of Purple paint.

Nashua South has struck first in the annual spring Battle of the Bridge with Nashua North, sweeping the boys and girls track meet on Monday at South’s Fran Tate Track.

The Panther boys beat North 95-58, with Merrimack getting 28 points. The South girls, meanwhile, won 84-64, while Merrimack had 25 points.

In the boys meet, South’s EthanSchnyer won the 100 meter dash in 11.37 with teammate Kobie Perry second. Panther Barrion Perry won the 200 in 23.44 seconds,just ahead of teammate Tim Staveley. Then the Panthers poured it on in the 400, going 1-2-3 with Michael Menezes winning in 52.76, and Camdon Brien and Revin Olsen second and third, respectively. Brien then captured the 800 in 2:027.68

Neither North nor Merrimack competed in the 1600, so South got 11 points, with Daniel Byrne winning in 4:32.13, ahead of second place Dante Castellano. The pair went one-two (same) in the 3200, with Byrne winning in 9:51.52.

The Panthers won the 4×100 relay led by Michael Menezes, Ryan Jansen, Tim Staveley and Leonel Lopez winning in 43.23. Then Brien, Olsen Lopez and Barion Perry won the 4×400 in3:32.28.

Perry captured the high jump in 5-9, ahead of teammate Tim Staveley. South’s Jackson Daw won the pole vault at 10-6.

South’s Elyza Mercado won the discus at 145-9

North took the top four spots in the 110 hurdles, Kyle D’Silva winning in 18.11 wih Mason Dandeneau second, but then Dandeneau then won the 300 hurdles in 42.89

The Titans’ Luke Peters won the long jump at 18-11 with teammate Jaden Pena third at 18-2. North’s Aaron McNair was second in the 800.

North’s Darius Smith won the shot at 52-0 and the avelin at 153-4, and was second in the discus at 144-2.

Merrimack’s Tyler Hussey won the triple jump at 37-2.25, ahead of teammate Ryan Church. Hussey also took a second in the 300 hurdles in 44.05 and the Tomahawks’ Brayden Comeau was second in the pole vault. And Luca Kabel the same in the long jump (18-9).

GIRLS MEET

Nashua South’s speed took hold in the girls meet as well as the Panthers’ Mimi Ortiz won the 100 in 12.78 seconds. Teammate Nyah Musa won the 200 in 26.64 seconds, with teammate Camrin Ayi second in 28.22. Ayi was also second in the 400.

South’s foursome of Alejandra Chavarin, Soraya Ross, Ortiz and Musa won in 49.36. South’s Katie Perry was second in the 1600 and Sarah Witta the same in the 100 hurdles.

South went one-two-three in the high jump with Lauren Dillaby winning at 4-7, with Penelope Rodriguez second and Diamond Perry third.

South’s Katie Perry won the pole vault at 7-0, Nora Gautieri the shot put (32-6.5) and second in discus which was won by Panther Chloe Cruz at 98-0

Panther Emma Millette was second in the long jump.

North’s Rosalie Neveu won the 400 in 1:03.42 while Titan Laura White captured the 800 in 2:26.31 with teammate Skyler Hewson second.

Titan Claire Hathaway-Rube won the 1600.

Titans’ Jahnelle Thomas captured the 100 hurdles in 15.59 as well as the long jump at 15-2.5 while Allison Frye won the 300 hurdles in 48.22.

Thomas, Frye, Christina Juris and Neveu won the 4×400 in 4:20.30.

North’s Tiana Brown was second in the 100 dash and 300 hurdles while Sarah Frye was second in the triple jump.

Merrimack’s Ella Taylor won the 3200 in 13:27.20 and Alexis Best captured the triple jump at 34-10. Teammate Ella Fong won the javelin (91-11) with Faith Metaxotos second.The ‘Hawks’ Mia Getchell was second in the shot put.
