HS Roundup: Milestones for South girls; Boudreau paces BG

It may be school vacation week, but we know high school sports never take a vacation. Thus Monday, while not as busy as usual, still had its share of key outcomes, including a big win with a couple of milestonss for Nashua South girls lacrosse players, plus big baseball wins for Bishop Guertin and Souhegan.

Let’s take a look:

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 13, MERRIMACK 6

The Panthers improve to 4-2 after a dominant win over the Tomahawks (1-3). Karina O’Donnell reached her 100th draw control to go with three goals and an assist. Morgan Uzdanovich grabbed her 100th career point with three goals and six assists on the day.

Ella Benzekri netted five goals and an assist, Saige Devin had a goal and Keira Walsh made four saves. South visits Pinkerton and Merrimack visits Dover on Friday.

DERRYFIELD 17, NASHUA NORTH 5

The Titans (0-5) remain winless on the season after Monday’s loss. Summer St. Pierre score three goals, Savanna Basford had two, Molly Ducharme tallied two assists and Mya Zibolis made 10 saves. North hosts Concord on Wednesday.

PINKERTON 10, SOUHEGAN 9

The Sabers (3-2) three game win streak comes to an end at the hands of the Astros. Playing well offensively were Izzy Stevenson (two goals, assist), Libby Kennedy (two goals), Natalie Heimarck (goal), Abby Giannetti (assist), Lyla Kimball (three goals, two assists) and Lanai Hickman (assist).

Souhegan visits Portsmouth on Wednesday.

GOFFSTOWN 10, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9

The Cavs (2-2) fall short to the Grizzlies. Cailean Roy was all over the field gathering five goals, eight draw controls and eight ground balls. Samantha Smith (two goals, assist), Sabrina Hill (goal, three assists), Elise Broadhurst (goal), Teagan Arbogast (assist), Juliette Ogren (assist) and Addy Dougherty (10 saves) played well for the locals.

HB hosts Windham on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 17, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 6

Jake Boudreau got the win going four innings allowing one hit, no runs and striking out five in the Cardinals (5-1) win.

BG was led offensively by Ryan Haskell (homerun, three RBIs, two runs), Kolby Piper (double, two runs, three RBIs), Josh Wilson (two hits, two runs, RBI, stolen base) and Jordy Delude (double, three RBIs). BG visits Spaulding on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 8, OYSTER RIVER 2

Ethan Gaudet picked up his first varsity win pitching six and two-thirds innings allowing six hits, two runs and striking out six for the Sabers (4-2).

Leading the offense were Drew Reagan (two hits, three runs, RBI), Nolan Colby (two hits, RBI), Matt Silk (two hits, RBI), Cam Brown (two RBIs), Joe Mayo (RBI), Sean Zerega (hit), Max Hayes (two hits, run), Brody Smith (run, stolen base) and Teddy Katsel (hit, run, stolen base). Souhegan hosts Pembroke on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL

PINKERTON 6, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers drop to 0-4 after losing their home opener, despite Brooke Berger and Nicki Gates each getting two hits. South, which also turned a double play,is now off until it visits Dover next Monday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 15, JOHN STARK 9

The Cavs improve to 4-1 after a tough loss in their previous game. Kailey Disco (single, two doubles, four runs), Liv Colantuonio (single, triple, two runs), Savannah Duquette (single, homerun two runs), Emily Tebbetts (double, two runs) and Katrina Lee (two runs) contributed in the win.

HB visits ConVal on April 29.

BOYS LACROSSE

KEENE 11, NASHUA NORTH 5

The Titans (0-5) continue to search for their first win after a road loss to Keene. Brody Sutton scored a hat trick and Dylan Noble added two goals. North hosts Manchester Memorial-Central on Tuesday.

WEEKEND LEFTOVERS

The Souhegan boys volleyball team beat Timberlane in four sets, losing the first 25-21 and then winning 25-20, 26-24, 25-16, with a big day by Addison Hodgdon with 25 kills, two aces, one block, plus two Chase McBride aces to go with 17 digs. Everett Boyer (20 kills) and Cooper Sousa-Trembley (44 assists, three aces) helped out.

The Hollis Brookline boys lacrosse team, which hosts Alvirne today, fell to Timberlane 16-3 with two Ben Dufoe goals and one J.P. Torgersen tally.

Finally, Souhegan baseball beat Concord 5-3, as Nolan Colby had two hits and an RBi, including a triple, and five shutout innings by Matt Silk.
