A few locals had a good day Thursday at the annual NHIAA Alpine Meet of Champions at Mittersill to wind up the in-state ski season, led by Souhegan’s Lyla Kimball and Nashua South’s Brynn Tefft.

Kimball took fifth in the Giant Slalom in a combined two-run time of 1:24.70, and was eighth in the Slalom in 1:23.10.

Tefft, meanwhile, was right behind her in the Slalom in 1:23.65. She was 23rd in the GS in 1:30.32.

Both qualified for the Eastern High School Championships at Attitash set for March 8-10.

“This is a significant accomplishment,” Nashua ski co-coach Matt Denaro said. “Brynn’s a junior; this is her third year competing at the Meet of Champions. … And she’ll also have one more chance to qualify next year as a senior.”

Bishop Guertin’s Elena Ellia took 13th in the Slalom in 1:24.95.

Souhegan’s Burke Makenzie was 41st in the Slalom. Nashua North’s Rosalie Neveau was 41st in the Slalom and 37th in the GS (1:35.91)

In the boys, Souhegan’s Reid Kimball was 18th in the GS in 1:26.08 and 17th in the Slalom in 1:2762. Fellow Saber Darrenn Leary was 15th in 1:27.34.

Nashua South’s Tommy Crook also had a good day Thursday. Crook was 32nd in the GS in 1:35.96 and 33rd in the Slalom in 1:34.03.

The overall state champions were in the girls, Profile’s Elaina DeMaggio (1:23.32) in the GS and teammate Price Mackenna in the Slalom (1:18.61).

In the boys, it was Gilford’s Boede McLean in the GS (1:18.80) and Hopkinton’s Merrick Chapin in the Slalom in 1:17.66.
