The last night of the local high school basketball regular season is always one where coaches check everywhere for scores, trying to figure out how things will shake out for the upcoming state tournaments — or if they make the tournament at all.

It looks — we say looks, nothing definite at all — like Nashua North an South girls teams are both in, and Nashua South boys will likely get a home game. It was a tough night for Wilton-Lyndeborough in the girls Division IV tourney. Here’s a look:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 44, WINNACUNNET 23

Lily Small had a game high 17 points for the 8-10 Titans. Jordan Cottier and Angie King scores nine points apiece.

PORTSMOUTH 60, NASHUA SOUTH 33

The Panthers end the regular season at 8-10 as Morgan Gillis and Brooke Berger scored nine and seven points respectively against the title contending Clippers, whom South has a good chance to see in the first round of the tournament.

GOFFSTOWN 36, ALVIRNE 30

The Broncos lose the defensive battle to the Grizzlies. Ella Hartson led the way with 15 points. Alvirne end the regular season at an even 9-9 and will likely be on the road for the first round of the tourney.

DIVISON IV QUARTERFINALS

NO. 3 NEWMARKET 46, NO. 6 WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 40

The Warriors gave the homestanding Mules all they could handle but wound up on the short end to end their season at 14-6. The Mules will play No. 2 Groveton in the semifinals Tuesday at Bedford High School.

BOYS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 65, WINNACUNNET 42

The Titans (14-4) bring a 10 game winning streak as they enter tournament play next week after their win over the Warriors. Robinson Rodriguez scored 17 points with Parth Miglani and Jaden Pena collecting 16 each.

NASHUA SOUTH 66, PORTSMOUTH 55

Josh Caruso had another dominating performance racking up 32 points for the Panthers as they close out the regular season. Zac Castonguay added 10 points to the offense. South finishes with a record of 11-7 and will likely be at home in the first round next Wednesday.

WINDHAM 90, BISHOP GUERTIN 57

The Cardinals finish the season with a loss to the Jaguars and a record of 4-14. Connor McGowan and Eli Youssef tallied 13 points apiece and Logan Lowney added 10.

GOFFSTOWN 50, ALVIRNE 49

The Broncos finish at 9-9 after a tough loss at home, the second game for interim head coach Christian Patnaude.

Alvirne will be on the road in next week’s Division I preliminary round.

PINKERTON 101, MERRIMACK 75

The Tomahawks, after beating Nashua South last Friday in a classic game, lost their final two games to end up at 8-10. They also will be on the road in next week’s tourney, quite possibly at Exeter.
