HS Roundup: BG skaters blank Bedford; Alvirne-Milford wins
Wrestling may have been the high school sport of the day, but let’s not forget hockey as there were a few games of local interest on Saturday, with mainly success for the locals:
BOYS HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 1, BEDFORD 0
The Cardinals picked up their second straight shutout win, avenging an earlier loss this season to the Bulldogs at Skate 3.
Ethan Casey got 25 saves for the shutout while the game’s only goal was by Noah Cordiero at 4:25 of the third period, assisted by Gavin Santos.
Now 10-5-1, BG hosts Salem on Wednesday at Skate 3, looking to improve their spot in the Division I standings with one week left in the regular season.
MERRIMACK 2, GOFFSTOWN 2 (OT)
Connor Dunn and Ryan Warrington got goals in the first two periods for the Tomahawks but the Grizzlies’ Sam Chapman tied things up at 6:36 of the third period. The Tomahawks, now 13-2-1, got 30 saves from James Brew and are at Timberlane on Wednesday.
ALVIRNE-MILFORD 2, SOMERSWORTH/COE-BROWN 1
Brandon Ganas got the game winner for the Admirals, who improved to xxx, assisted by Brandon Callahan and Landon Briand. Braydon Atwood added a goal and an assist while Trent Scarbro played well in goal.
The Admirals wrap up the regular season next Saturday at Skate 3 vs. Merrimack.
GIRLS HOCKEY
HANOVER 6, BISHOP GUERTIN 0
The Cardinals first half of their tough back-to-back weekend didn’t go well, as they fell to 12-3. They hope to get a quick turnaround today vs. another contender, Pinkerton, at 1:40 p.m. at Skate 3.
