It’s Championship Weekend, Part II when it comes to local high schools after track and swimming hardware was handed out last weekend.

It’s wrestling and bowling’s turn.

A lot of eyes will be on Hollis Brookline High School on Saturday, where the Division II wresting team championship will be decided. And the host Cavaliers will be going for a threepeat, with challenges from a lot of teams, including rival Bishop Guertin, plus Goffstown. Alvirne, Milford and Merrimack will look for good finishes as well, and there certainly could be at least two local teams in the top three with a ton of locals qualifying for the Meet of Champions.

The Division I team title will be decided at Londonderry High School, with Salem as the favorite but Nashua North and South should have some good individual finishes. In Division III at Bow, keep a close eye on Souhegan, which has three No. 1 preseeds and two No. 2’s. The Sabers could come away with a title, while Campbell has one individual favorite.

Remember, no more dual meet strategy, etc. As HB coach Brian Bumpus said, “Our focus shifted a few weeks ago from the dual meet to the divisional tournanament.

“It’s going to be tight, no matter what. (BG) is going to bring some firepower. Spaulding is really good this year, and Goffstown is probably a team that everyone has circled right now. It’s going to be an interesting event, how it all shakes out.”

The big key, as usual, is depth.

“Our good kids we plan on winning,” Guertin coach Paul Rousseau said. “You hope the other kids that maybe aren’t state champs win matches. We win kids to win a match or two matches. State tournaments are won by the kids underneath.

“I’m happy. I think the tournament’s wide open and anybody can win it And I think Hollis can easily win it, because they’ve got some great kids.”

It’s a different year, so the Cavs don’t feel pressure.

“We’ve got a lot of new faces this year,” Bumpus said. “But we circle this date at the beginning of every season, and that’s (a state title) our goal.”

Here’s a look at all three divisions, starting with the heavy local Division II:

DIVISION II

We’ll look at this one by weight class because there are so many locals:

106 – HB’s Jameson Keller is No. 1 while BG’s Austin Steinruck is No. 2 and Milford’s Josh Enright fifth. Keller is the defending champion.

113 – Two locals to watch: No. 2 Scout Crea of HB and Milford’s Kiernan Lordan, ranked fourth.

120 – BGB’s Jack Kaler is the No. 1 preseed, and right behind him is HB’s Gavin Turcotte at No. 2 while Milford’s Kane Davis is fourth.

126 – HB’s Ryan Sutton is third while Merrimack has Connor Sayball at No. 4.

132 – The Cavs’ Caden Bruseo is the top preseed, while Bishop Guertin’s James Algeo is third and Milford’s Cam Stickney fourth. “We’re really excited about Bruseo,” Bumpus said.

138 – Come on down as the top preseed, BG’s John Forcier. Merrimack’s Grant Descheneaux is fourth and Milford’s Kyle Lajoie is ranked sixth. Others to watch are No. 7 Marty Burns of HB and No. 8 Aaron Cummings of Alvirne.

144 – Milford has a top preseed here with Even O’Connell. Merrimack’s Mitchell Krupp is ranked sixth.

150 – Hollis Brookline has its second top seed, Jacob Critchfield, while BG’s Jack Foster is ranked fifth.

157 – Alvirne Logan Jacques is No. 1, followed by Merrimack’s Brendan Curley at No. 2. HB’s Dylan Manley is preseeded at No. 7.

165 – Two key locals here, No. 4 Cam Steed of Alvirne and No. 5 Nick Rivera of BG.

175 – A loaded weight class locally, with Bishop Guertin’s Will Murphy ranked No. 1, Alvirne’s Shayne Mackey at No. 3, Milford’s Nate Post at No. 4 and HB’s Jacob Velez at No. 7.

190 – Alvirne’s Quintin Tetreault is the top local preseed at No. 4, with BG’s Sam Ronzio right behind him at No. 5.

215 – Another top ranking for Alvirne with Shawn Boudreau. Milford’s Elijah Wales at preseeded fourth and BG’s Matt Goldstein is No. 6.

285 – Could this be where it’s decided? Hollis Brookline’s John McCole is No. 1 while BG’s Bishop Kearns is No. 2.

DIVISION I

It’s just two teams, Nashua South and North, and neither will likely contend for first overall, but they could have some good if not great individual finishes.

At 106, Nashua North’s Owen Gagnon is the third preseed, and Nashua South’s Robert Signor is in the top six.

The Titans’ Caleb Smith is pre-seeded seventh at 120, and North’s Gavin Page is ranked sixth in 126, while South’s Ben Byrne is fourth at 144 and the same for Robert Perez at 150. North’s Trevor Rivard is right behind Byrne at 144 with a fifth preseed and Carder Tillman is eighth at 150.

Keep an eye on Steven Rosario for North, preseeded No. 3 at 165, and the same for South’s Connor Whitman in the same weight class. North’s Ruben DeJesus is ranked seventh at 175, and Landon Levesque is ranked seventh at 215 and Panther Ian McCubrey is fifth at 285.

DIVISION III

Two local schools here, Souhegan and Campbell.

Souhegan has No. 1 preseeds at 120 in Ben Smiley, 132 in Logan Brown, and Chase Knuckles at 138, Also, Landon Carson is No. 2 at 126 and Christian Knuckles is No. 2 at 144. Others: Maddie Brown preseeded sixth at 113, Noah Dennis the same at 150, as well as Game Holt the same at 175.

Campbell’s top guy is Logan Allaire, preseeded No. 1 at 165.

BOWLING

Defending champion Merrimack is the third seed, but will have the luxury of being at home for the event at Merrimack TenPin.

Keene, however, is the No. 1 seed while Stevens is No. 2. Besides Merrimack locally, Bishop Guertin is No. 5, Milford No. 10 and Hollis Brookline No. 11.

In the prelims, Milford faces No. 7 Dover, with the winner facing Stevens in the quarterfinals. Hollis Brookline takes on No. 6 Raymond, the winner taking on Merrimack. BG is already set to face No. 4 Pinkerton in the quarters.

The semis and finals will follow.
