HS Roundup: A Battle of the Bridge split on the slopes

It’s been a tight Battle of the Bridge thus far, as Monday’s ski results showed with Nashua North winning the girls race and Nashua South the boys at Pat’s Peak. North leads 3-2 with the next events coming Thursday at North: Co-Ed Unified Basketball, Boys Freshmen Basketball, and Boys and Girls JV basketball.

Elsewhere it was a good day for local hockey teams as Bishop Guertin and Alvirne-Milford boys both won.

Here are the details:

BOYS & GIRLS SKIING

NASHUA NORTH GIRLS, SOUTH BOYS WIN

The girls won the North-South race 388-197, but South’s Brynn Tefft winning the race in 48.17 seconds, followed by North’s Rosalie Neveu (49.19) and Sanya Rane (55.77). South’s Olivia McGadden was fourth (59.15).

Other North scorers included Sonya Witkoskie (1:07.25) and Kathryn Kleley (1:08.61).

It was a tight boys race as the Panthers edged the Titans 390-382. South’s Timmy Crook took first with a combined time of 48.11 seoonds while fellow Panther Matt Walters (55.81) was second and North’s Darren Bevins (59.61) third.

South also got points from Chase Swisher (fourth, 1:01.76) and Tommy Crook (seventh, 1:28.45). North’s other scorer were Connor Gott (fifth, 1:10.77), Jimmy Lombardi (sixth, 1:23.41) and Jay Fritz (eighth, 2:22.87).

BOYS HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 4, ARLINGTON (Mass.) Catholic 0

The 5-2-1 Cardinals have lived all season with multiple goal scorers, and that was the case again at Monday at Skate 3 Arena as Cam Vaillancourt, Dom Trepanier, Isaac Idarraga and Joe Dekarski all scored, with Trepanier and Idarraga also having assists.

Aiden Kelley had a pair of assists, while other assists went to Bradyn MacLean, Caleb Yeung and Sean Hughes. Ethan Casey had 20 saves in goal for the shutout. Guertin has a rematch with Concord on Saturday at Everett Arena.

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 4, MONADNOCK-FALL MOUNTAIN-CONVAL 0

Admirals Trent Scarbro picked up the shutout in goal and also had an assist as the visiting locals improved to 4-3-1, snapping a four-game winless streak.

Cade Bouchard led the way on offense with two goals and an assist. Bryce Larco had a goal and Ceddy Beaulieu had a goal an an assist.

Other assists went to Brandon Callahan, Mason Tomkins, Braydon Atwood, and Brandon Ganas.

The Admirals head to Spaulding on Saturday.
