HS Roundup: BG takes eighth straight; North owns Bridge

Who is the hottest team in the area right now in any high school sport? The Bishop Guertin field hockey team can put in its claim with its current winning streak, but as you read on it loses out to the Cavaliers of Hollis Brookline in the same sport.

Also, Nashua North wins the Battle of the Bridge; the Titans had clinched before edging Nashua South yesterday.

FIELD HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, WINNACUNNET 0

Lauren Redfern, Taylor Guibord and Hailey LeBlanc each found the back of the net to help the Cardinals (11-2) win their eighth game in a row. Guibord and Addison DaDonna had one assist apiece. BG visits Bedford on Thursday.

SALEM 3, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers (4-10) were shutout by the Blue Devils on senior night. Xiadani DeLaLima tallied nine saves. Being honored on senior night were DeLaLima, Erin Flaherty, Nyah Musa, Roseanne Shiju, Oliviah Pires, Keira Walsh and Suralys Peralta. South visits Windham on October 11.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7, SANBORN 0

The Cavs (10-2) dominate Sanborn for their 10th straight win. Sabrina Hill and Emily Tebbetts each scored two goals. Brooke Bouchard, Nyah Jernberg and Anna McGurk put in one goal apiece. Rae Kline and Maddie Barich both made one save earning the combined shutout. HB visits Oyster River on Thursday.

HANOVER 6, MILFORD 0

The Spartans (1-10) falter for the third game in a row Wednesday afternoon. Ari Wales made 19 saves. Milford visits Kennett on Friday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 0

The Cardinals (6-7) sweep Memorial by the scores of 25-10, 25-9, 25-10. Akira Coravos, Veronica Gomez, Emma Knapp and Caitlin Harrington led the all-around play for the locals. BG hosts Spaulding on October 11.

PORTSMOUTH 3, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers (6-5) fall to the Clippers 23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 18-25. Playing well for South were Mia Suljic (19 kills, 18 digs, three aces), Molly Lecklider (five aces, 19 digs, five assists) and Hayleigh Hicks (five kills, four blocks). South hosts Salem on Friday.

GOFFSTOWN 3, NASHUA NORTH 2

The Titans (9-4) lose the battle against the Grizzlies by the scores of 25-16, 18-25, 16-25, 25-22, 11-15. Having great performances for North were Hayley Maurhoff (11 kills, four blocks, two aces, two digs), Taylor Joyal (13 kills, 17 digs, four aces, block), Kailyn Sung (17 digs, ace) and JoJo Desfosses (28 assists, two aces, kill, nine digs). North visits Londonderry on Friday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, TIMBERLANE 0

The Cavs (10-2) defeat the Owls in three sets 25-16, 25-20, 25-14. Anika DiVirgilio (ace), Shelby Klaassens, Genevieve Scales and Hershey Vedula all recorded a kill with Ava Porto adding two aces. HB hosts Winnacunnet on Friday.

OYSTER RIVER 3, SOUHEGAN 0

The Sabers (10-2) eight game win streak comes to an end against Oyster River 13-25, 23-25, 15-25. Julia Coulantuoni had eight kills and seven digs and Alicia Kennedy added seven kills. Souhegan visits ConVal on Thursday.

LONDONDERRY 3, MERRIMACK 0

The Tomahawks (4-8) get shutout by the Lancers 25-20, 25-23, 25-18. Sam Lyna (eight assists, two kills), Lily Petrocelli (five kills, six blocks, four digs, three aces), Julia Bradley (four kills, block, two aces) played well in the loss. Merrimack visits Windham on Friday.

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 4, CONCORD 2

Marcell Perry, Revin Olsen, Ethan Schnyer and Leo Lopez scored for the Panthers, who have won six straight and are 10-2 going into Friday’s 7 p.m. big game at Bedford. Schnyer also had a good game defensively.

GOLF

CONCORD 199, BISHOP GUERTIN 211, NASHUA NORTH 219, NASHUA SOUTH 220

Concord outlasts the locals at Nashua Country Club on Wednesday. Playing well for BG were Beau Dubois (40), Joe DeKarski (41) and Owen Murphy (41). Leading North were Drew Goulet (42), Jeff Macklock (43) and Connor Prunier (43). Broden Landsteiner (41), Tyler Girouard (42) and Noah Soule (44) had a good day on the links for South.

The event was the final one in the Battle of the Bridge between North and South, and North is the winner, 10-6.

The Titans won Boys JV soccer, Girls JV soccer, Girls varsity soccer, JV Volleyball, Bass Fishing, Varsity Football, JV Football, Girls Cross Country and JV and Varsity Golf.

South captured Varsity Field Hockey, Boys Varsity Soccer, Freshman Volleyball, Varisty Volleyball, Freshmen Football and Boys Cross Country.
