HS Roundup: Spartans stun Cavs; Panthers top Central

There weren’t any close football games on Friday night locally, but that wasn’t the case with othe sports.

For example, Milford got a late goal to stun Hollis Brookline in boys soccer; Nashua South won a close one vs. Manchester Central and the Souhegan field hockey team got only one goal but made it count.

Here’s your Friday rundown:

BOYS SOCCER

MILFORD 2, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

Joonas Mangum scored the game winning goal with 45 seconds left to lift the Spartans (3-3) over the Cavs (4-3).

Milford’s Avery Wilson scored on a penalty kick. Milford hosts Pelham on Tuesday and HB visits Laconia on Thursday.

CAMPBELL 5, BISHOP BRADY 0

Luke Delia recorded three goals and two assists in the Cougars (4-1) shutout win over Bishop Brady. Jack LaRose had one goal and one assist with Jack Bourque holding down the fort in net. Campbell hosts Derryfield on Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 2, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 0

The Panthers (5-1) get back to their winning ways after a shutout win on Friday. Soraya Ross and Dominque Secovich found the back of the net. Peyton Renzi and Addison Varley tallied assists.

Lilee Petricca earned the win in goal. South visits Nashua North on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, PLYMOUTH 0

The Cavs improve to 5-0 with a home win against Plymouth. Starring for HB were McKenna Maguire (three goals, assist), Rosalie DeSantis (two goals, two assists), Marleigh Kreick (two goals), Addison Fyfe (goal), Sam Disco (goal), Mya Blackman, Bailey Dunn, Lauren Holt and Sienna Anderson. HB visits John Stark on Tuesday.

FIELD HOCKEY

OYSTER RIVER 9, MILFORD 0

The Spartans fall to 0-6 after their loss to Oyster River. Violet Renda and Ari Wales made 10 and two saves respectively in net. Milford visits Kingswood on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 1, GOFFSTOWN 0

Ori Dart scored the only goal of the game to lead the Sabers (5-1) to their fourth straight win. Lily Goerlich had an assist and Amelia Warecki made seven saves. Souhegan hosts ConVal on Tuesday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Cavs (4-1) sweep the Panthers (3-2) 25-15, 25-11, 25-21. Annette Schlunk (13 kills, two aces), Maggie Noble (seven kills, two aces), Lolly Adair (six kills, block), Malaya Colena (four aces) and Libby Getter (38 assists, two aces) led the way for HB.

Mia Suljic (eight kills, 14 digs), Molly Lecklider (16 digs) and Morgan Gillis (three aces, five digs, three blocks) played well for South. HB hosts Salem and South hosts Alvirne on Monday.

GOFFSTOWN 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 1

The Cardinals (1-4) lose their third straight contest by the scores of 21-25, 27-29, 28-26, 15-25. Brooke Partridge, Veronica Gomez and Akira Coravos played well for the locals. BG visits Exeter on Monday.

MERRIMACK 3, KEENE 0

The Tomahawks evened their record at 2-2, sweeping Keene 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 as Harley Twofoot had 34 assists.

Julia Bradley added 14 kills, while Amelia Walker (eight kills), Lily Petrocelli (seven kills, four blocks) and Rachel Flett (five kills) all were major contributors for Merrimack, which hosts Dover on Monday.
