HS Roundup: HB girls lax rolls; tough losses for BG, North

Some losses are tougher than others; some wins are bigger than others. The Bishop Guertin High School girls lacrosse team suffered a one-goal defeat at the hands of out of state opponent Franklin, while the Nashua North baseball team fell short vs. Exeter, less than 24 hours after its big win over BG at Holman Stadium.

On the win side, the Hollis Brookline boys volleyball team got an important five-set win over fellow contender Coe-Brown. And wait until you see the Campbell baseball final.

Here’s your Tuesday Tale:

GIRLS LACROSSE

FRANKLIN (Mass.) 9, BISHOP GUERTIN 8

The Cards fell short in an inter-state encounter, despite four goals by Tess Prunier and two each by Arianna Kouchalakos and Lauren Redfern.

Maddy Eder-Linell had eight saves for BG (10-5), which wraps up the regular season today vs. Nashua North at Stellos Stadium.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 21, SPAULDING 6

The Hill sisters, Sabrina and Alyssa, had four goals/one assist and three goals/three assists, respectively, as the Cavaliers wrapped up the regular season at 13-4.

Paige Mello (three goals, two assists), Juliette Ogren (three goals, assist), Elise Broadhurst Broadhurst and Cailean Roy (two goals each), Olivia Laub (goal, assist), Teagan Arbogast, Maddison Caetario, and Charlotte Petrella (a goal each) also contributed.

Roy had six draw controls while Caetano and Ogren had four each. Julia Vella led the defense with four caused turnovers in front of goalie Addy Dougherty, who had six saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

ALIRNE 10, PEMBROKE 8

Connor Hall led the Broncos with three goals and an assist while Jon Santana had two goals. Chris Darbe and Joey Ribeck (goal apiece), Cedrik Bealieau (assist) also contributed.

Ayden Kelly had a whopping 28 saves in goal for the Broncos, while Joey Ribeck enjoyed the faceoff edge 12-7. Now 8-7, Alvirne hosts Winnacunnet in its regular season finale on Friday.

BASEBALL

EXETER 5, NASHUA NORTH 4

The Titans fell to 9-8 despite a three-run double by Joey Deck in the bottom of the sixth to tie things up. Kenny Reel had a great effort in relief on the mound.

North finishes the regular season Friday at Bedford.

CAMPBELL 27, RAYMOND 3

The visiting Cougars closed out the regular season at 14-2 in a big way, taking advantage of 20 walks in 28 at-bats. Jack Kidwell stroked his sixth homer, and had three RBIs. Drew Avitable got the win on the mound.

SOFTBALL

EXETER 14, NASHUA NORTH 1

Taylor Joyal had a busy day for the Titans, pitching all five innings with a strikeout and hitting a double and scoring North’s only run.

Nicki Gates and Mack Brady both had singles for North, now 0-17. The Titans end the season Friday at home vs. Bedford.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, COE-BROWN 2

The Cavs (13-1) won a big match with a 15-10 win in the final set after splitting the first four, 25-11, 24-26, 25-20, 24-26.

Aidan Norris had 27 kills with six digs, while Jordan Beck (seven kills, two blocks), John Somr (17 kills, six digs).

HB faces local rival Souhegan today at 5:45 p.m.
