HS Roundup: St. John’s edges BG lax, Nashua South wins

The week that Bishop Guertin High School boys coach Chris Cameron makes his team better begain with a tough one-goal loss to St. John’s Prep of Danvers, Mass., but the Cards have Pinkerton on Thursday and Boston College High on Sunday,
Guertin’s boys tennis team couldn’t quite come away with a win at Hanover. There were a lot of local winners in a track meet at Souhegan that also included Milford and Hollis Brookline.
Here’s a look at your Tuesday’s results:
BOYS LACROSSE
ST. JOHN’S PREP 12, BISHOP GUERTIN 11
The Cards kept it close throughout but couldn’t break through, falling to 11-3. Brady Dumont had three goals while
Connor Guibord and Jacob Caron each had a pair. Single goals were by Connor Bouvier, Aiden Laurendau, Caleb Yeung and Tim Kiely.
Yeung’s goal gave Guertin a 2-1 lead and it was tied at 3, but St. John’s led 6-5 at the half but expanded the lead to 10-7 after three quarters and hung on.
Guertin hosts Pinkerton Thursday at Stellos at 4:30 p.m.
NASHUA SOUTH 7, SALEM 6
The Panthers snapped a six-game losing streak as Beau Dubois led the way with five goals and an assist. Owen Roy and Tyler Benzekri had a goal each while Severen Johnson had an assist.
Jake Lynn had 12 saves for the 3-11 Panthers, who have a rematch with Nashua North today at 4 p.m. at Stellos.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 16, PEMBROKE 3
The Cavaliers (8-6) cruised, led by four goals and an assist from Ben Dufoe, a hat trick and an assist by Connor Cook, plus two goals and two assists from Noah Natalino and two and one by Noah Taylor.
Others in the mix were Tommy Anderson (two goals), J.P. Torgersen andAndrew Torgersen (goal, assist each) plus Deegan Herrera (goal).
Elliot Troddyn was 7 of 12 on faceoffs (58 percent) while Charlie Dee had seven saves and a 70 percent save percentage.
HB hosts Hanover on Friday.
BOYS TENNIS
HANOVER 6, BISHOP GUERTIN 3
The Cards suffered just their second loss in a battle of Division I contenders, losing four of six singles to make a doubles sweep tough.
No. 1 singles player Nick Xie got an 8-6 win while Gavin Bombara also won at No. 2, 9-7. The pair teamed up for a No. 1 doubles win, 8-0.
It doesn’t get any easie for the 11-2 Cards, who close out the regular season at home vs. unbeaten Bedford.
SOUHEGAN 8, KINGSWOOD 1
The Sabers improved to 6-7 with their second straight win over the Knights.
They won it in singles with five triumphs: No. 2 Philip Dodge (8-3), No.3 Chas Knuckles (8-0), No. 4 Connor Firmin (8-0), No. 5 Parker Schade (8-2) and No. 6 Keegan Beatty (8-0).
Ryan Fernandez/Dodge (8-3), Firmin/Knuckles (8-3) and Schade/Balthazar Glover (8-1) all won.
The Sabers wind up the regular season on Thursday at Coe-Brown.
GIRLS TENNIS
BOW 6, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3
The Cavs got singles wins at the top of the ladder with No. 1 Keira Swart (8-2) and Anuhya Chilakapati (9-7) coming out on top. The pair teamed up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-5 win as well.
Now 4-9, HB winds up the regular season Thursday at Manchester West.
SOFTBALL
SALEM 9, NASHUA SOUTH 5
The Panthers lost a lead late to fall to x-x. Jillian Daley tossed all seven innings, alloiwng 11 hits and nine runs while fanning four and walking one.
Lizzie DeRusha went 2 for 4 at the plate to lead the Panthers offensively.
Now 3-9, South is at Alvirne today.
MERRIMACK 12, BEDFORD 0
Avery Hui tossed three no-hit innings with four strikeouts while Marissa Nelson tossed two one-hit innings, striking out two, as the Tomahawks improved to 8-6.
Katie Coolidge and Lily Dionne (both 2 for 4) paced the offense while Hui, Jules Nobrega, Samantha Martin, Nelson and Rachel Flett (double) all had hits.
Merrimack is at Londonderry today.
BOYS & GIRLS TRACK
HOLLIS BROOKLINE GIRLS, SOUHEGAN BOYS WIN
HB dominated the girls meet in Amherst with 131 points over Goffstown (81), Milford (76) and host Souhegan (26).
The Cavs’ Anna O’Donnell and Annika Bergin took the top two spots in the 400, while Maia Arthur was second in the 200 and third in the 100.
HB’s Brook Bouchard won the 1600 and was second in the 800. Grace Dow swpt the hurdles with teammates Claire Ballou and Casidy Engle just behind. HB got two relay wins (4×100, 400). Maryfei Berrigan took the long jump and Addison Fyfe captured the pole vault.
Milford’s Keely Giordano won the 100 and fellow Spartan Kylie Allen won the shot put and discus.
Souhegan’s Ashereka Primmer was second in the high jump,
The Saber boys were almost as dominant in the boys meet, totaling 113 points , while Milford was second with 99 and HB third with 88. Goffstown (43) was fourth.
Souhegan got firsts from Carson Behn in the 200, Dallen Noorda in the 1600, Cole Henderson in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Sean McCool in the high jump, Owen Pisinski in the pole vault, John Katsel in the long jump, Jackson Steckbeck in the triple jump,
For Milford, Adam Holodowski was second in the 300 and was on the winning 4×400 relay team; the Spartans also took the 4×100 relay. Keegan Hatch won the shot put and discus while fellow Spartan won the Javelin.
The HB boys got a first in the 100 and second in the 200 by Samuel Bruneau while Henry Bruneau won the 400 and Matthew McLaughlin the 800.
