HS Roundup: Disco perfect for HB; Cards roll past Panthers

If you’re a hitter, you don’t want to face the Hollis Brookline High School pitching staff.

Not only do the Cavalier have Austyn Kump, who recently threw a no-hitter, they also have Kailey Disco. All she did in the circle Friday was pitch a perfect game. That headlines a busy Friday on the local front that also included a BG softball win over Nashua South, and a second straight Souhegan boys lacrosse win, plus Campbell baseball spoiling Bishop Brady’s bid for an unbeaten season. Here’s your Fun Friday rundown:

SOFTBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 14, LEBANON 0

The Cavs improve to 9-3 after a shutout win against Lebanon thanks to Disco’s perfect game while striking out 11 batters.

Leading the offense were Disco (triple, RBI), Austyn Kump (single, double, three RBIs), Sophia Brickner (two hits, three RBIs), Katrina Lee (two singles), Savannah Duquette (single), Meghan Park (single), Emily Tebbetts (RBI) and Olivia Colantuonio (RBI).

HB visits Campbell on Monday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 12, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Cardinals (6-7) grab a decisive win against the Panthers (3-8). BG was led by Meara McDevitt (double, RBI), Isabella Nutting (single, RBI), Sophia Bilodeau (RBI) and Kennedy Fitzsimons (single, RBI). Bailey Doyle earned the victory pitching seven innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out seven. Catherine Marvin started the game for South pitching two-thirds of an inning, allowing eight runs on seven hits. Hailey Bettencourt led South with two hits. BG visits Concord on Monday and South hosts Salem on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 4, LEBANON 0

The Cavs sit at 9-3 after their win against Lebanon. Jack Lager picked up the win pitching five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out seven. Zak Lussier (home run, two RBIs), Alex Razzaboni (home run, two RBIs) led HB Travis Lafontaine (two hits) in the batter’s box. HB visits St. Thomas on Monday.

ST.THOMAS 12, SOUHEGAN 1

Nolan Colby scored the lone Sabers run on a passed ball. Now 6-6, Souhegan is at rival Milford on Monday.

CAMPBELL 11, BISHOP BRADY 1

Logan Daigle allowed just six hits over 6.1 innings, striking out eight while allowing just the one run as the Cougars handed previously unbeaten Brady its first loss. Freshman Brandon White got the final two outs for the Cougars (strikeout and pop out)

BOYS LACROSSE

MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 10, NASHUA SOUTH 4

The Panthers lose their sixth game in a row and fall to 2-11. Tyler Benzekri scored three goals, Broden Landsteiner had a goal and an assist and Cole Rioux added two assists. South hosts Salem on Tuesday.

WINNACUNNET 18, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9

The Cavs (7-6) drop their second straight game with a loss to the Warriors. Ben Dufoe (three goals, assist), JP Torgersen (two goals), Noah Natalino (two goals), Noah Taylor (goal), Andrew Torgersen (goal, assist), Elliott Troddyn (11 face-off wins) and Charlie Dee (17 saves) played well in the loss. HB hosts Pembroke on Tuesday.

TRINITY 11, MILFORD 2

The Spartans fall to 0-11 Friday afternoon. Chuck Urda and Ryan Arseneau each scored a goal with Harris Jones collecting nine saves. Milford hosts Stevens on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 9, CONVAL 5

Aiden McGrath had a hat trick while Jared Kershaw scored a pair as the Sabers improvedto 7-4. Brady Melvin scooped up six ground balls as well. Souhegan is at Salem on Monday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

PORTSMOUTH 19, NASHUA SOUTH 7

The Panthers (9-3) four game win streak was snapped by the Clippers on Friday afternoon. Ella Benzekri (three goals, assist), Morgan Udzanovich (two goals, assist), Karina O’Donnell (goal), Maddy Matylewski (goal) and Keira Walsh (four saves) played well for South. South visits Salem on Monday.

CAMPBELL 13, PLYMOUTH 6

Kristina Castellano put in 10 goals to lead the Cougars (2-9) past Plymouth. Maddie Couvellier had two goals, Callie Hoover added one goal and Rania Chaudhry made 15 saves. Campbell hosts Pelham on Monday.

MILFORD 15, TRINITY 5

The Spartans (7-4) dominate Trinity for their second win in a row. Leading Milford were Kelci Waters (five goals, three assists), Bailey Johnson (four goals), Kate Hansen (two goals), Alena Latendre (goal), Addi Pare (goal), Tori Franconia (goal) and Kourtney Waters (assist). Milford visits St. Thomas on Tuesday.

BOYS TENNIS

NASHUA SOUTH 5, PINKERTON 4

No.1 Abhinav Avvaru (9-7), No.2 Ansh Khanna (8-4), No.3 Jason Zhu (8-5) and No.5 Mihir Garmella (8-2) won in singles. No.1 Avvaru/Aadi Kulkarni (8-4) won in doubles. South (9-2) visits Manchester Memorial on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 7, KINGSWOOD 2

Winning in singles for the Sabers (5-7) were No.2 Chase Knuckles (8-4), No.3 Connor Firmin (8-3), No.4 Parker Schade (8-0), No.5 Keegan Beatty (8-1) and No.6 Balthazar Glover (8-1). The teams of No.2 Knuckles/Firmin (8-2) and No.3 Beatty/Glover (8-1) won in doubles. Souhegan hosts Kingswood on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

EXETER 5, ALVIRNE 4

The Broncos (7-4) fall in a tough battle to the Blue Hawks. Emma Coppi (8-5), Avery Baker (8-4), Marissa Murphy (8-4) and Murphy/Liz Rugg (8-4) won their matches. Alvirne hosts Derryfield on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 8, KINGSWOOD 1

Winners in singles competition were No.1 Callie Perrin (8-0), No.2 Caroline Drum (8-0), No.3 Tylee Jancar (8-0), No.4 Mishka Tower (8-2), No.5 Tess Jancar (8-1) and No.6 Amelia Wysor (8-2). No.1 Perrin/Tower (8-4) and No.2 Tess Jancar/Amanda Leary (8-4) won in doubles action.

Souhegan (10-1) hosts Manchester West on Monday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

TIMBERLANE 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals (3-7) lose to the Owls 10-25, 11-25, 17-25. BG hosts Goffstown on Monday.
