South boys, North girls capture Frosh-Sophomore Meet

The Nashua High School South boys and Nashua North girls underclassmen enjoyed a Saturday in the sun in Salem.

A year after finishing second, the Panthers this year took things a step further.capturing the annual Kiwanis Freshmen-Sophomore Meet on Saturday, beating second place Pinkerton and Salem by 20 points, 80-60.

And, not to be oudone, the North girls won the meet with 71 points, besting Concord and Pinkerton (64). South was fourth in the girls event with 57.25 points.

BOYS RESULTS

Milford was fifth with 42 points, jut ahead of North at 41.

Revin Olsen took the pole vault (10-0) while the 4×800 meter relay team of Micah Allard, Camdon Brien, Andrew Byrne and Daniel Byrne also won.

Tim Staveley (second in the 200), Liam Gallagher (second in javelin), and a second by the 4×100 team of Henry Long, Leo Lopez, Raymond Katuru and Tim Staveley took second.

“The team has been stressing the concept of staying focused and leaving everything on the track, and every member of the team met the challenge today,” South boys coach Doug Booth said.

Nashua North did well also. Darius Smith took the shot put, while Luke Peters and Gavin Suchecki aided the Nashua North 4×200 relay team to a second place finish, while Suchecki then captured the high jump.

Alvirne had a couple of boys winners as Shane Plumley took the 400 and Shawn Boudreau captured the discus.

Milford captured the 4×400 relay

Kenyon Sora was second for Milford in the 400, and Souhegan’s Dallen Noorda took the 800.

GIRLS MEET

North’s Jhanelle Thomas had a good day, winning the 200 and finishing second in the long jump, while fellow Titan Sonya Witkoskie won the 3200 in 12:39.71. North’s Tiana Brown won the 100 hurdles, and teammate Allison Frye won the 300 hurdles. Brown, Thomas and the Fryes teamed up for a win in the 4×200 relay. North was second in the 4×800.

South’s Ryenne Georgiana took the high jump, while fellow Panther Chloe Cruz was second in the discus and Nora Gautieri same in the javelin.

Alvirne’s foursome of Sophia Berube, Victorie Oliveira, Jenny Hebert and Brynna Anderson won the 4×800 relay.

Alvirne’s Ava Martin was second in the 800, while Bishop Guertin’s Sarah Witta was second in the 100 hurdles.

Melanie Bedard was third for Merrimack in the 1600.
