HS Roundup: South softball gets first win; BG tennis rolls

The drought is over.
It was a busy sports day at Nashua South, but the highlight despite big wins by baseball and boys tennis had to be the Panthers softball team getting its first win of the season as the bats were booming.
Bishop Guertin boys tennis keeps rolling while Milford baseball got a big win.
Here’s your Wednesday rundown:
SOFTBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 14, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 8
The Panthers (1-5) record their first win of the season defeating Central at home. Catherine Marvin (three hits, RBI), Morgan Gillis (two home runs, three RBIs), Brooke Berger (double, RBI), Elizabeth DeRusha (triple), Natalia Rogers (home run, three hits) and Emily Richard (single) led the offensive unit. Marvin got the victory pitching seven innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits and striking out six. South visits Manchester West on Thursday.
LONDONDERRY 13, NASHUA NORTH 1
The Titans record sits at 0-9 after their loss to the Lancers. Hope Blondin pitched five innings giving up five hits. Sam Hall scored the lone run on a pass ball. Mack Brady had North’s only hit. North visits Nashua South on May 9.
BASEBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 6, SPAULDING 5
The Panthers win their sixth straight contest after defeating Spaulding. Devin Sawyer had a hit and Isaiah Hedquist added a hit and two RBIs. South hosts Nashua North on Friday.
LONDONDERRY 3, NASHUA NORTH 0
The Titans (5-4) lose their second straight with a shutout loss to the Lancers as Brady Sullivan managed their lone hit. Jonathan Medrano pitched well for the Titans, allowing only three hits himself over six innings.
North tangles with Nashua South on Friday at 7 p.m. at Holman Stadium in the Battle of the Bridge.
MILFORD 5, SANBORN 4
A walk-off error propelled the Spartans (3-3) to dramatic win over Sanborn. Bryce Larco, Michael Lima and Trice Cote each had multiple hits. Chris Bedard grabbed the win surrendering zero runs over two innings and struck out two. Milford hosts Lebanon on Thursday.
SOUHEGAN 10, CONVAL 0
The 3-5 Sabers snapped a three-game losing streak as Brayden Hickman tossed a three hitter over six innings with six strikeouts but got lots of offensive support as Brandon Dufour had a double, two walks and three RBIs while Hayden Goerlich had two hits and two RBIs.

BOYS LACROSSE
INTER-LAKES 9, MILFORD 5
The Spartans (0-7) remain winless after their loss on Wednesday. Chuck Urda scored three goals and added an assist with Harris Jones collecting two goals. James Brew had 12 saves in net. Milford visits Kearsarge on Thursday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
BISHOP GUERTIN 20, MERRIMACK 7
The Cardinals defeat the Tomahawks and win their fourth game in a row. Laura Redfern collected five goals and an assist and Skylar Naftali secured four goals and an assist leading BG’s offense. Tess Prunier (three goals, two assists), Maddy Hartstock (goal, assist), Abby Lynn (goal), Kam Schmitt (goal), Abby Dicomes (goal, assist), Kyra O’Connell (goal, three assists), Arianna Kouchalakas (two goals, two assists) and Mariella Tomasello (goal) played well in the win.
BG hosts Londonderry and Merrimack visits Nashua North on May 8.
CONVAL 17, ALVIRNE 2
The Broncos drop to 0-7 on Wednesday. Makayla Meehan and Rachel Stevens each scored a goal. Alvirne hosts Oyster River on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 17, EXETER 6
The Sabers (3-4) pick up big win against the Blue Hawks. Lyla Kimball scored six goals with an assist and Emma Kennedy tallied five goals with three assists in the offensive outburst. Others playing well for Souhegan were Nat Heimarck (three goals, assist), Riley Devine (goal, assist), Lyla Hawkes (assist), Annika Madeja (goal) and Abby Giannetti (goal). Souhegan hosts Concord on Friday.
ST. THOMAS 17, CAMPBELL 9
The Cougars (1-6) lose a big one to a visiting St. Thomas squad. Kristina Castellano, Maddie Cuvellier and Callie Hoover each had three goals.
Campbell visits Derryfield on Friday.
BOYS TENNIS
BISHOP GUERTIN 9, MERRIMACK 0
The Cardinals are now 7-0 with another sweep. Singles winners were Nick Xie, in a tight 9-7 win over Merrimack’s Reese Lopez at No. 1, then Gavin Bombara (8-2), Will Moynihan (8-2), Sean Cairns (8-4), Aditya Prasad (8-1) and Sean Finnegan (8-2).
Xie/Bombara (8-4), Moynaihan/Cairns (8-2) and Prasad/Finnegan (8-2) completed the sweep in doubles.
Guertin is back at it today at Concord. Merrimack (3-6) is off until it hosts Concord next Monday.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 3, JOHN STARK 0
The Cardinals (2-4) end their three game losing streak by the scores of 27-25, 25-22, 25-21. Mike McLaughlin (four kills, four digs), Alex Howe (three aces, three kills) and Sean Schultz (13 assists) played well in the win.
BG visits Dover on Monday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, SALEM 0
The Cavs improve to 6-0 beating the Blue Devils 25-13, 25-13, 25-18. John Sommer had nine kills, Kyle Sandborn added five kills and Ben St. John had two kills and two aces. HB hosts Farmington on Friday.
