Boys Hockey All-State: BG’s Bishop named Coach of the Year

Gary Bishop can celebrate an individual honor as well as his team’s state championship.

The longtime Bishop Guertin High School boys hockey coach was named the Division I Boys Hockey Coach of the Year by the New Hampshire Hockey Coaches Association, which recently released its All-State teams for all three divisions.

Bishop’s honor topped the local awards. First Teamers from local schools included senior forward John Mantone of Bishop Guertin (Division I), Merrimack forward Eliot Medlock and defenseman Kyle Dunn (Divsion II), and goalie Liam Cripps of Pembroke-Campbell. (Division III).

In Division I, local Second Team players were Bishop Guertin senior forward Logan Vogel and Cards senior goalie Brayden King. Guertin senior defenseman Ryan Kelley was an Honorable Mention.

In Division II, Merrimack goalie Matt Licata was an Honorable Mention, as was Alvirne-Milford forward Matt Ryan. Remaining locals on the Division III team included Second Teamers Cam Plumb (forward, Pembroke Campbell) and Hollis Brookline-Derryfield’s Jesse Gertz (forward) and defenseman Jack Lager.

Here are the complete New Hampshire Hockey Coaches Association’s Boys All-State team. Certificates are provided by the NH Legends of Hockey and sent to their Athletic Directors.

DIVISION I
