It wasn’t quite a manic Monday, but the high school slate was a little busier than normal thanks to Mother Nature’s forced reschedulings.

The evening featured one of Nashua South-Pelham hockey’s best games of the season, a BG boys hoop win, and a heartbreaking loss on the hardwood for the Hollis Brookline girls basketball team.

Here’s the Monday report:

BOYS HOCKEY

NASHUA SOUTH-PELHAM 5, PORTSMOUTH-NEWMARKET 2

The Kings scored 31 seconds in and never trailed as they snapped a five-game skid at Conway Arena.

Sean McCarthy, who got that first goal, ended up with two on the day. Matt Miguere (with an assist), Peter Gamache and Nathan Smith also scored, while Ryan Arnesen had two assists. Single assists on the day went to Dylan Carr and Brady Pelletier

Kings goalie Bailey Landsteiner had 21 saves. The hosts took a 3-2 lead into the final period and Gamache and Smith proived the insurance goals in the third.

Now 3-7, the Kings have a busy week. They host Pinkerton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then Winnacunnet on Thursday at 3 p.m.

BOYS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 80, CONCORD 56

The Cards improved to 7-3 with three players hitting double figures at the Colligadome.

Luke Anderson led the way with 17 points, while Matt Santosuosso added 15 and Logan Lowney had 14, with four 3-pointers. BG led 37-20 at the half and coasted.

Guertin is back at it tonight at home vs. Dover.

OYSTER RIVER 69, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 38

The Bobcats (3-8) put together a 22-6 third quarter to sink the Cavs to 1-10.

Alex Razzaboni led host HB with nine points and six rebounds. Jordan Beck and Zach Lussier also played well for the locals, who visit Laconia tonight.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

OYSTER RIVER 52, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 49

Ouch. The visiting Cavaliers fell to 7-4 in Division II when, coming out of a time out with 2.1 seconds left and the length of the court to go, Oyster River (8-3) hit on a three-quarter length of the court buzzer beater for the win.

Daniella Allanach led HB with 14 points, while McKenna Dunn had 13 and Cheyenne Colbert added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

HB hosts Timberlane today at 6 p.m.
