Splash! North, South, and BG swim teams open up season

NASHUA — Sunday swim, anyone?

The city’s high schools certainly were up for it.

Nashua North, South and Bishop Guertin opened up the 2022-23 boys and girls swim seasons yesterday with a series of dual meets at the Greater Nashua Boys & Girls Club.

In the boys, South defeated North 92-48 and Bishop Guertin 78-57, while Guertin beat North 66-49.

In the girls meet, South topped North 80-36 and BG 82-53m while Guertin beat North 61-38.

BOYS HIGHLIGHTS

Nashua South’s Ishaan Parmar placed first in the boys 200 freestyle, and the Panthers got a win in the 200 freestyle relay thanks to Travis Spencer, Kishan Angadi, Ishaan Parmar and Lee Hill. Pratham Mukewar captured the 100 breast stroke.

Bishop Guertin won the 200 medley relay thanks to the foursome of Josh and Brennden Dion, Asher Griin and Stuart Jensen. Brennden Dion took the 50 free, Josh Dion the 100 butterfly, Brennden Dion the 500 free, and Eamon Grifin the 100 back.

North was paced by Owen White as he won the 200 IM, the 100 free, while David Preston took the diving

GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS

The South girls 200 medley relay team of Carolyn Byrne, Akayah Mbatia, Teresa Matthew and Josephine Matthew placed first, as did the South girls 200 Free Relay squad of the two Matthews, Olivia Yi, and Mbatia.

Yi was first in the girls 200 free, Mbatia was first in the 100 breast stroke, and South’s Madison Bertiaume took first in her first ever diving competition.

For BG,Meghna Sridhar took the 50 free.

North’s winners included Maya Zimmerman in the 200 IM and 500 free, Anya Seo in the 100 free and Laura White in the 100 back,
