The numbers don’t lie, either on the stat sheet or the scoreboard.

Thus, when a running back like Scott Hershberger dominates in both, good things come his way, like the state title he helped Campbell High School win 10 days ago.

And postseason honors. Hershberger, who rushed for over 2000 yards on the season, was recently named the Division III All-State Player of the Year.

And the coach who was smart enough to keep giving him the ball, Campbell head man Glenn Costello, was named the Division III Coach of the Year.

The Cougars had several on the All-State squad. Scott’s tight end brother, Nick, also a sophomore, along with junior offensive lineman Evan St. Pierre and senior quarterback-fullback Jackson Kanaley (as utility) were named to the First Team Offense, while senior defensive back Chris Corbett, junior DB Kody Kham, junior defensive tackle Lochlain O’Neil and junior defensive end Jack Kidwell all were on First Team Defense.

Cougar senior offensive lineman Dom Silva made Second Team, while three Cougars were Honorable Mentions: sophomoe Loghan Marchand, freshman Nate Lenicki and sophomore Zach Poulin.
